Old Boys Club

Pros

Mexican colleagues are smart and forward -thinking. They are trying to bring this company into the 21st century.

Cons

A good old boys club rules the roost. Employees from Oklahoma sites are working with a 1980s mentality. The computer system is a blue screen with blinking white cursor (no lie). All they ever say is "This is the way we've always done it." Incompetent and arrogance are rewarded and intelligence is dismissed. No career path in this stodgy company, and even worse for women. Only female in CEO staff is token HR representative. Non competitive salaries, vacation and national holidays. No health insurance for domestic partners. Bonuses based on company results, not individual goals and objectives. Opportunities available for and hiring of cronies only. In this company, mediocrity prevails and dynamic, intelligent employees are fired for overshadowing their superiors. Do not work for Sigma/Bar-S Foods. The environment is negative and toxic.

Not a good company or fit for someone who wants to advance

Pros

The only pro is that you get to work remote but this is only due to COVID.

Cons

The Mexico and US groups are not team oriented. Everyone does their own thing which creates chaos. The US Procurement team is ran by someone who thinks he knows it all. Management can be condescending most of the time. If there is a problem and you create a process or suggest a change, management ignores it. There is no appreciation. Women are treated as though they know nothing at the company. There is no room for advancement. There are very few women in upper management roles and a lack of true diversity. The company is definitely a boys club. Management will cut your bonuses because of their lack of proper planning. However, I'm sure they still received their huge bonuses. They will also give you 3% raises each year which isn't good by any standard. The salary is way below industry standard especially considering the amount of work that is required. Vacation time is horrible. Ten days for your 1st 2 years, then a total of 11 for your 3rd year.

Struggles to Promote Women

Pros

Health benefits are comparatively decent for a company based in Phoenix, AZ.

Cons

Watched several female coworkers, with more qualifications than those offered the role, get passed over for a promotion. I personally wasn't offered a pay or job title change after added responsibility until I put in my 2 weeks. Without notice my health insurance ended on my last day of employment.
