Pros

Segment has successfully built a fantastic customer data infrastructure application that is very easy to setup and integrate into any web application. The segment interface is well designed and easy to navigate. The settings for your Destinations are all clear and laid out, so you can make changes effortlessly. The neatest feature is the visual tagger, which allows you to create and track triggers/events on your website without having to code anything at all. It's great if you want to track very basic behaviors like button clicks or form submissions.

Cons

After some time off getting my life back, I can now make a review. Since the beginning of this year and I have buried my father due to covid 19 and lost my 3-month-old baby girl and was basically down in depression. The HR Department terminated my employment because of a misunderstanding of the work permit process. The speed at which I was terminated you would think I was the covid virus. I have never met such wicked and inhumane people in my life before. I went through 7 interviews, read all segments documentation on 200 Web applications, took every single Segment University course, Studied all Personas documentation, and Coded the technical assignment. I completed all required tasks from security checks, background checks, education checks, Passport Checks. I complied with every single request and submitted all my personal information. The background check company even went all the way to verify my parent's address in my hometown. The company places a huge emphasis on its core values of kindness, friendliness, and compassionate culture. However, what I received from this company was aggression, intimidation, wickedness, and just pure evil.

Pros

1. Fantastic product-market fit, and the recent Twilio acquisition should providee excellent roadmap opportunities. 2. Huge learning curve working with a technology that is both technical and commercially impactful. 3. Very big focus on sales process and methodology, which can help less experienced reps develop strong sales acumen and career prospects.

Cons

1. Culture - The overall culture is intense, and has lead to very high attrition in the last 12 months. Resources are very scarce for the expectations that are set and the turnover has widened gaps in our ability to deliver results, especially for a technical product that takes time to master. 2. Management - Key leadership positions are being filled with inexperienced people, or friends of people in high places that are 'yes people'. They will do what's asked of them, no matter what the human impact is. See previous reviews. 3. Diversity - A severe lack of both 'physical diversity' (race, gender etc), but also diversity of background and thought. This is a military operation and there is no space for creative thought, personal opinions or building your own path to success. 4. Earnings - OTE's are nice, but the targets & comp plans are not.

Pros

Twilio Segment acquisition Product market fit Good benefits

Cons

The HR Department lead by the Senior HR business partner is creating a toxic environment that is driving employees out. They have created an authoritarian environment, a hire and fire culture that has made everyone reconsider their future at the company. Segment will put you through a marathon of interviews but will let you go for a bag of chips. Avoid this company like a plague
