Pros

Great team of creatives with a spirited sense of humor. Casual work environment with collaborative synergy. Client base is varied and interesting. If you are new to branding and talented, take the chance to build your portfolio. Start high on your salary negotiation and let it ride for 2-3 rounds of compensation packages. You won't get a raise every year, so plan for that up front. Keep in mind that salary "possibilities" are not actual salaries -- and they should not be counted as income on the negotiation end.

Cons

The owners are high touch, meaning that they'll never fully give you control over what you do. This is why the creative looks awesome, but it's also what drives the employees and the clients away. The creative director's ego is unbearable -- he has a lot to prove and will let you know he owns you, your creative, your equipment and any beer in the fridge. He's a good creative director but has zero leadership charisma. Creatives never really get credit for the good things they do, get told they suck or are "dummies" and get paid 65% of what they're worth. That's after working late every night and coming in on weekends. Account-side people are often marginalized. Clients are constantly being called "idiots" and "crazy." Even the big-billing clients are ridiculed.

We are thankful for the advice, and totally agree: Happy employees = happy creative = happy clients. But NO, we will not settle for mediocre creative for the appearance of a corporate shiny fake-ness. Unfortunately, this was a long while back when we were in a season of growing pains as a company, and a few folks weren't happy. We could not offer this account manager the salary package and multi-level position advancement that was desired, as we weren't a typical larger agency model. Also, as you can see - there was a feud between the creative director and account manager; and there are some untrue statements written as this was a week before they quit. We STRONGLY believe in our creative; and support, respect, value and reward them as that is our ultimate worth as a creative agency. As a creative that started it, I stand behind this.

Pros

St8mnt Branding Agency is the ideal place to intern if you are really serious about elevating your design career. They are the best for a reason in the Nashville area. The team takes time to help you grow as a designer . The work is real and the hands-on experience you'll gain is very valuable. St8mnt's creative team is insanely talented and have a great eye for design. The way St8mnt runs their creative process is also good to learn from as a young designer. Very refined and fast paced. Most importantly, they are very transparent about your work. They do not sugar coat anything which is good starting out as a designer. They are a small, honest family of creatives. Once you leave, they'll still reach out to you and inquiry about your journey through the design world.

Cons

Not really any downfalls. There were small moments of miscommunication, but they were never a deal breaker.

Pros

ST8MNT gave me the opportunity to work for them as a full-time designer straight out of college. My interview was over two hours long and I couldn't have been more impressed by the immediate connections with employees throughout the process. Owners, Bethany and Josh, take their time to get to know their employees and that directly reflects on how they interact with all their clients. They put their full confidence in their team and expect high execution in our deliverable work. This kind of a challenge can be hard on some people, but I found it as an opportunity to become more efficient in producing high quality professional designs. Additionally, they utilize all skills of all employees outside of their "hired" responsibilities. Oh! I cannot forget about all of the free snacks!

Cons

There can be a roommate effect with coworkers since ST8MNT is a tight bunch of individuals with colorful personalities. This is to be expected in an artistic atmosphere. If you like cubicles, this agency is not for you.
