Pros

It's hard to find a true 9-5 work day in NYC, especially with such great benefits and a non-competitive office culture. Staff tend to stay for decades, which speaks highly of the culture and support.

Cons

However, with long-term staff, staleness and degraded skill sets is a problem. Opportunities for training, development and advancement are slim to non-existent.

Pros

The office is in a great location; close to all the major luxury goods retailers Most staff are really lovey, switched on and resilient It felt great to work for an iconic company with such a rich history Varied job description allowed me to get involved in lots of different and exciting things

Cons

Micro-management by certain leaders really soured my experience. This created a sense of fear and paranoia around the office. Staff were not empowered or trusted to make any kind of decision on their own accord- everything had to be approved and closely monitored. Every minute was watched- if you’re late to work by three minutes, you stay back by exactly three minutes. Toilet and tea breaks could only be taken if someone was available to cover them. Some staff were clearly stressed, bullied, overworked and unhappy however the attitude by senior management to sweep these symptoms under the rug raised questions of integrity. Indulgent Senior management team prefer to focus on participating in corporate entertainment rather than get to know their people or see how they can assist to drive greater growth. Extremely high staff turnover- one department had a new person in every 2-3 months over the course of 2 years due to bullying, excessive pressure/ unrealistic demands

Pros

Overall, the company is a good company to work for stability. The benefit package is decent (they like to say it's above average, but it's normal). But as a company they really try to be good. Profit sharing is generous. They have annual bonus. Since Covid they are paying uber for all employees that need to be in site, and for those wfh they offer decent equipment. The company is very stable.

Cons

Let me start by saying that all executives are white males in their 50s. They have only one female executive, but she is the only one without an office in the executive floor. The working class is diverse, but there is no diversification on the executive and upper-management level. People who've been in the company for years are afraid of retaliation. The stories you heard. They want to bring young people, but don't hear their ideas. They have changed systems twice in the last 5 years, and both systems are an absolute joke. You would think that such a prestigious company would invest in high quality programs. Work-life balance is out of the question. You have to work a lot of extra hours without OT compensation.
