Pros

Genuinely incredible people work here Great Mission Great Benefits Trying to change the industry for the better when it comes to DEI

Cons

Leadership is mainly SpaceX and it shows. Early in this company's inception, it was great, people were very engaged, our voices felt heard and we were able to action and implement key processes that helped us scale. As we hired more people from SX, it became everyone's job to bend over backwards to please these uptight grumpy people. They then hire their friends whom are also grumpy and think the same way they do. They don't care about diversity, consistently undermining our efforts by hiring their friends (that also tend to not be diverse), and their leadership styles are aggressive (fast track to the burn out train.)

Pros

Inspiring technology that has the ability to revolutionize the space industry. A lot of talented and passionate people.

Cons

For a company that loves to claim to not be SpaceX they somehow have taken all of the bad attributes from them. Majority of teams work 12+ hour days and Saturdays after being lured in with the promise of work life balance. Senior leadership is inept and unwilling to listen to counter ideas despite the company touting that they want disruptive solutions. Nepotism runs rampant with leaders hiring their friends or former coworkers and if you're not willing to blindly follow you get retaliated against. Such a shame considering that this place used to be visionary in both technology as well as the way they treated employees but with the steady influx of toxic former space leaders it's rapidly gone downhill. If you're looking for an organization that values humanity of their employees then stay far far away from this place.

Everyone is totally lost

Pros

The people are truly awesome to work with. From the leadership to the individual contributors, lots of great personalities and attitudes. When there are company events (few and far between nowadays) it is easy to make great personal connections. Strict “no jerks” hiring policy has worked pretty well.

Cons

NOT A STARTUP. They have taken away everything that makes a startup a startup. Hardly any free lunches, dinners, parties, snacks, or joy to be found nowadays. The only startup thing left is the low salaries, poor work life balance, risk of failure, and lack of experience from the leadership. There are constant (every 3 months), MASSIVE reorganizations; being in management is super cut throat. They are very good at promoting internally, but only because people keep getting the boot and they don’t pay enough to get proven leaders from elsewhere to accept the offers. If you want to be an engineer and get really good technically, this is not the spot for you- you will learn what you can out of desperation, but you won’t go far or be rewarded. If you want a crash course in politics and nepotism, get on board.
