Laid back culture, unqualified and sneaky middle management

Pros

Laid back culture and the ability to drink at work, along with cool parties. Some really cool, really nice people.

Cons

Low pay. While the culture is good, the values are lacking. After I was hired, there was a bait and switch. The work that I was hired to do, was not the work that was sold to me in the interview. I had a bully for a manager, who favored friends he had hired and was a compulsive lier. Even though I was more than qualified, I was blocked and undermined by someone who had never had a real job before working at R&R. This person was hired, due to being a diploma mill alumni. My creative experience and background accounted for nothing and I was constantly being blocked by inexperienced team members, who were afraid that I would get in the way of their promotional chances. Our team had a chance to show our past work to the leadership, and mine was deliberately omitted for obvious reasons. My fellow co-workers lied and downplayed my abilities and skills to senior management. It was only when I started to submit complaints to HR, that senior management started to pay attention, however these people were still allowed to play their games, cause problems, work on personal projects and basically undermine others. They were never punished for it and a few were even promoted. Senior management did nothing about conflicts of interest, when it came to romantic relationships between employees who worked together. Lazy, troublemakers were allowed to do whatever they wanted, including working on personal projects, whilst others did all the client work. These people were allowed to poison the environment and undermine others on the team. Senior management was clueless, because middle management lied and made out everything was ok. I've never seen anything like it in my life. I know the talent pool in Vegas is limited, but seriously!!!

Pros

Nice building Nice coworkers while in prison

Cons

Do as I say----- NOT as I do leadership Every quarter there is a new flavor of the month hired to save the world. 6-12 months later that person sucks. Constantly changing directions without finishing anything. Same BAD leaders for 10+ years who everyone hates are called out as successes at group meetings NOT female friendly organization. Was told "If you have to pick your kid up after work - find another job". Time clock mentality. NO flexible work arrangements. Hypocrites. Promotes Netflix model BUT acts like a 1950's factory. News flash. Netflix employees are rewarded for RESULTS not by how many hours they "appear" to be working. Pay sucks unless you are a VP or partner

Pros

Good benefits, competitive salaries, easy access to airport, free snacks, free booze, and good people who leave end up in better places.

Cons

Los Angeles office is a rudderless outpost and leader lacking charisma and ability to rally the staff. Unable to get new business due to lack of understanding of advertising business. Creative output is feeble. Account directors would not be in same position at another reputable agency. Real management is from the Nevada office who is out of touch with Los Angeles office. Cliquish.
