Pros

Didn't see any pro in whole 1 year of my service period

Cons

So many... 1. Boss culture. You have to do many things even when you know they are wrong just because boss has told you to do that. 2. Favouritism. A person who has less experience and knowledge than you can become your lead or boss is the right word. 3. Anytime they can fire you. Without any notice. 4. No coding standards or proper process set. So, they will hire you for technology A and make you work on technology B-Z whatever they like. Your profile will be screwed. 5. So dumb colleagues. Local people estimate way lot more than actual. But if you are a foreigner, they will expect same thing in half time with superfine quality. 6. Managers will make you wait late in the office for no reason.

Pros

I need to spend a good hour to come up with a good reason. 1) Pay- I think the pay is better than some local companies, but again, the higher pay is overshadowed by so many cons. 2) You could learn some new things such a new architecture, source control etc. 3) This is the biggest pros of working in QNAP- You will remember and would be taught a life lesson - how to avoid joining a company like QNAP.

Cons

I am describing these based on my experience and department, It might be a bit different for some other department, but the moral of the story is the same! Stay away 1) Dictatorship: This company is controlled by a one-man team, who is free to take any decision on his own will, independent of whether it will actually help the organization/customers/ employees. Picture this: I entered this company and started working on a project, that has been delayed by over a year. The last development team was changed from scratch (again, due to the same one person). I got the news from my lead instructing that the team needs to start working overtime for 7 days since that one person wants the project to be done sooner (owing to some exhibition). We OT's like maniacs went home at 9-10, and eventually were able to release an extremely buggy version to the SQA team, keep in mind that this happened in May. Now, if the project is in rush, it should probably be tested and uploaded in let's say a month or two? May June, July? No!! The project was eventually on the store in end of 2017. So much for being hasty? All due to bad software practices and planning. The same goes for a lot of other projects as well. 2) BAD HR: The HR in this company are amongst the worst people I have met. Not only they try to mess up on the pay package, but love to lie blatantly. For instance, I was a foreigner and a lot of other foreigners who were recruited directly from overseas could reimburse their air-ticket for visiting back home. However, I was not even informed of this and was kept in the dark unless I heard it from someone else. The HR does a lot of malpractices like the one mentioned above; not to mention their bogus bonus offers, where they would mention a bonus of 4-6 months and try to lowball you on the salary. 3) Job Security: Have you ever felt, that every morning could be your last working day? Every day will pass in fear concerning the fact that will you be still employed the next day. If you want this kind of feeling and are a foreigner, welcome to QNAP!! People here have been laid-off for reasons as absurd and minute such as : Smoking during working hours Eating breakfast too late Taking too many breaks Writing review on GlassDoors(Yup!!) 4)Puppetry positions: This is the worst. Once you enter, soon you will realize that your lead, his manager, department leader and all so-called "senior" designations are as powerless as you. They might be designated as senior, but truth be told, they have absolutely no power in QNAP. They are puppets being controlled by the one who chooses to navigate this ship, that will eventually crash one day. Often I used to look forward to my manager's help in intervening us with some non-ethical issues, but guess what! Never would he EVER step on our side, because- He is got to take care of his job. And if you're in trouble, guess what- You're all alone and you're gonna probably get fired very soon. All those positions are just imaginary and impotent. 5) ZERO Welfare- Welfare? Ain't you getting paid? Ok, that's good enough. This is the ONLY organiztion, the ONLY organization where I even needed to shell money from my own wallet for a small Christmas event! For two slices of pizza, a piece of cake - I still needed to pay that from my own pocket. Apart from that, you get 3-4 days holidays in the first year, the Chinese New Year end party is just avoidable, the gifts are the NAS from QNAP (excited ehh) and you BETTER not be late to work otherwise it will be deducted from your salary. And, yes there are no medical leaves, money will be deducted for every medical leave you take. 6) Lack of communication : They hire foreigners (In fact, not foreigners, just people from one nationality ) and then, there is the local staff (close to 90%) . In my 10 months, I never saw any kind of activity involving interaction between the locals and foreigners. It seems there are two groups existing and this is just bad for the company. Ok, I could list even more points such as being monitored constantly by cameras and humans, being given a horrible lunch-box as a substitute for OverTime pay, bad talent retention and what all! But I would stop and assume that you get the point! Stay away

Pros

too many to understand in a single life

Cons

I suppose we all have seen those cartoon movies/series. The funny thing in cartoon chapters is, there are multiple characters who all play some unique role which in real life is never needed. Obviously, it's acceptable for a cartoon movie, but what are your thoughts for an organization? This company is more or like a cartoon movie where everyone tries to unique that they do jobs which shouldn’t be done in the first place. Sounds interesting? - Big boss, he gets an idea in his mind from nowhere and wants it done like people had a sixth sense or something so they already developed what he dreamt last night. - Managers, I am really worried about what kind of jobs they do. These guys are not focused to improve the product, rather they don’t care about the product. Moto of managers is to find unique ways to make the big boss happy. So they are innovative to find out ways to accomplish their goals. - team leads, they don’t know why their position exists in the first place. Title of position is different but they do some other work obviously again to praise their managers - and then comes developers and testers, poor guys first of they are the first one who can get fired for no reason. They could also be fired if the manager has fought with his wife in the morning. Yeah, this reason is enough to fire someone here. - Smart people start to work at 6 pm, while dumb people finish their work before 6 pm. - You will always be pushed and dominated by your manager to work after 6 pm - You cannot talk loud to be noticed, might get you fired - You can’t be in the group either even if you have friends. - Racism is quite normal starting from management itself so no place to the complaint - If you have any issues trying to resolve it with HR might get you fired as those people actually pay your salary from their pockets. So they are trained to maintain such an attitude. - This entire office stinks, people fart loud here, they snore. Gradually you will find a lot of insects on your desk. - There is no pantry, don’t expect such foolish thing from them. - Policies are defined for the betterment of the organization, the employee is not taken into consideration.
