Sinking Ship

Pros

Learned a lot about the dental industry, had amazing coworkers, remote position.

Cons

Operates like a start-up with little to no communication between departments. High-level employees have no respect for lower-level employees. ProSmile is a sinking ship with no future of floating to the top without being bought out by a more successful company. Wouldn't be surprised if they owe money to vendors, employees, etc. Has had two rounds of layoffs within the past year in multiple departments. Even though they made promises after the first round that it wouldn't happen again. No severance package for those who did get laid off - just a 2-minute random Teams meeting with ZERO compassion. Regardless of the work you did, your job was never safe. There are a million better companies to work for, don't waste your time here.

Beware

Pros

Remote, PTO, benefits, not much else

Cons

Well, they laid off 95% of my entire department last week in a two minute Zoom meeting, and were extremely heartless during those two minutes. Basically, after my years of extremely hard work, all they had to say was that they outsourced our jobs to an overseas company. This multi billion dollar company sent American jobs over to India to save a buck. For the last month, just as “busy work” management asked us to audit these accounts that this terrible Indian company has been doing for a month and they are AWFUL. They can’t read EOBs, they don’t understand how to do adjustments, they can not post payments, they do not understand the BASICS of the job. They’re terrible. They leave credits on patient accounts and balances when there shouldn’t be, write off crowns and endo treatments that should be sent for appeals, put the wrong adjustment codes in…and worse, Prosmile had us auditing these accounts but nobody has been correcting their mistakes!!! So there are thousands of errors sitting there! But if Prosmile would rather save a buck on trash help than quality work, so be it. In the last year since a new CEO and upper management took over, our PTO changed and has gotten worse, our insurance premiums skyrocketed through the roof, they talked about giving us bonuses but that was a big fat joke, and all we did was work super hard the last year to make Prosmile richer and ourselves poorer. Horrible company. Beware.

Pros

No pros. Company was lovely before it was sold but new management is quite unprofessional, poorly organized, and money hungry with a very noticeable decline in patient satisfaction due to their choices and the company culture is nothing how it used to be.

Cons

Benefits now cost nearly as much as you made working here. Pays near minimum wage and they reorganized pto to give us even less. Fired all the staff with zero notice. Outsourced operations so patients will probably have an even harder time getting through to support than before. The patients used to be fairly satisfied but they cut staff so much no one could reach anyone nor did offices ever answer either. Their organization is such a mess that you can't even tell patients which insurance we take because we don't even know nor know how to keep updated information which is a ridiculous way for a company to operate. Patients frequently go unanswered in agony for weeks or left months wondering where their lost lab work went to or calling for months to try to pay a bill but no one answers them. The company used to have great culture with good chances of upward mobility but it all went bad once the new owner took over.
