Pros

- Timely pay - No OT - Rewards teachers with gift cards

Cons

- Low pay at $17/hour - No benefits - High turnover rate - Unprofessional (e.g. bosses speak ill of employees in front of other employees) - Extremely disorganized e.g. Inconsistent training/Information - Patronizing boss who believes his employees are all lazy/lack common sense - Toxic work environment e.g. the boss puts the blame on everyone else and doesn’t take accountability for the company issues

Pros

The teachers and students are a 10/10. Everyone here is extremely friendly and makes an effort to show that you are appreciated. The relationships you make with the students and teachers are definitely a great bonus!

Cons

The owner and upper management is terrible. Most of the times, they do not know the situation and will quickly jump into conclusions rather than just asking you directly if a solution has been made yet. They will also lash out at you, and rather than giving any constructive criticism, they will belittle you. It is also clear that they do not appreciate the teachers and students, and the focus is always on the money rather than the education -- even though this is a language SCHOOL.

Thanks for taking the time to write this review. I'm sorry that you felt as though you were not being considered here at POLY Languages Institute. I have been making efforts to train my Administration to better assist and support the teachers, since I can not be at one center all the time. I have since advised the admin staff to act as the line of communication between myself and the teachers. This way the concerns of the teachers can be addressed by the admin staff. POLY Languages School prioritizes the students first and foremost. We take our responsibility to them very seriously. As such, we are striving to better accommodate our teachers so that the students can make the most of their time at our school. I appreciate you taking the time to write this review, and hope you found a company culture better suited to you.

Pros

Working in an environment with a diverse range of people from all over the world is absolutely wonderful. The teachers and students are the best part about working at POLY; everyone is really friendly.

Cons

Senior management is very poor and lacks leadership skills. They berate you for every error that you make rather than provide constructive criticism to help you learn and grow. The company has an extremely high employee turnover rate due to the upper management's ineffectiveness as leaders.

Thank you for the review. I'm sorry it seems as though we were not giving constructive criticism, but rather just criticism. I also apologize for the late response. We have since opened up new channels of communication so that teachers can receive the support that they need. So that they receive not criticism, but coaching. Since then I have found that the teachers have been much happier, and so I am proud to say that the line of communication is much more positive than before. I have been making tremendous progress to grow POLY Languages Institute into a school where teachers and students alike can gain valuable experience in an ESL environment, through engaging lesson plans and meaningful conversation. I apologize if the company culture was not to your liking at the time, but can with confidence assure you that we have come a long way.
