Pros
The work is enjoyable and some of the people who work there are wonderful. You're working on a newspaper; you have a chance to feel as though you're making a difference.
Cons
The 10% pay cut. The hiring freeze, which means if someone quits, their work gets divided among those who remain. The threat of layoffs. The inevitable decline of newspapers. At worst, it's a dying industry; at best, it's one that needs to reinvent itself, but nobody seems to know how. People are scared; morale is low.
