The concept of a 'team' has eluded this business. I never saw the collaboration of people you would expect in a modern working environment. It was like walking though the land of zombies, all these old pope who know no better sitting quietly by themselves doing what they have been doing for many years. I was part of the IT department, which up until recently consisted of only a handful of people, and after Woolworth's recently bought them out, they have had to quickly added several new people but have failed miserably in creating an exciting and vibrant team, like the rest of the business, they just keep to themselves making it a miserable place to be. Imagine walking into a business where you had one other senior systems engineer to rely on for a hand over and a manager, both of which you never saw again after the first two days before they decided your was not right for the role, all because I could not get the support I needed to do my Job effectively and my colleague was constantly throwing me under the bus to our manager all because he was not willing to let someone else into his environment which screams insecurity. I knew from day one, I had made a mistake and instantly regretted my decision to join PDF. This was further supported by the fact I did not have a chair to sit on for the first 4 weeks, on more than one occasion I nearly broke my back on what broken chair I was expected to use. This alone gives you a good insight into how they value their staff, in that they don’t, they are just numbers and as such are treated that way. The best advice I can given anyone looking to join the IT department is DON’T, you will regret it.
