Pros

After you leave any job afterwards will seem like a dream.

Cons

A puppet show, managed by a Portuguese engineer ceo who believes he knows everything about how to run a company. Did a good job when it was a start up, now he is over his head and in a panic. CRO makes Milton Waddams from office space look like a genius. Net net is this is a culture of there is only one way to do things and if you don’t follow the recipe you are not competent.

Thank you for sharing your frustrations and for being honest. For the past two years, the company has been growing at a very fast pace, leading to aggressive targets and changes that have been uncomfortable for those not accustomed to them. We take opinions like yours seriously and we will commit to ensuring that our teams feel that their voices can be heard and that we are open to change.

Pros

I really enjoyed my colleagues and they have great benefits

Cons

I joined because the culture endorsed outspoken professionals. They encouraged people to ask 'Why' but yet when you do so, they overrule it. Management sees their way and nobody else's. I quickly realized I was an executor vs. a strategist when my boss told me what to do on a regular basis. She clearly wanted no other opinions and for her team to do things her way. In addition she stated she had the management team 'wrapped around her finger.'

Thank you for taking the time to share your opinion of OutSystems. We pride ourselves on our company culture, so we’re disappointed that you feel it was misrepresented. Because our company is in high-growth mode and is more distributed than ever, it can appear that our culture is becoming less open to asking why or challenging the status quo. So, we will double down on our efforts in these areas to ensure others don’t feel this way, and we appreciate your honest feedback.

OutSystems is a train wreck - don't doom your career here

Pros

Good front line people. Other than that none I can think of

Cons

PLEASE Don't be fooled by all these 1 and 2 line positive reviews you read here that are probably posted by the HR team. OutSystems talks a good game about culture and tech but the reality is FAR different. - There was several secret layoffs waves over the last year. 20, 30, 40 people at a time but never any announcements by "leaders" - Also in the last year, almost entire C-level leaders leave. OS lost their CMO, CFO, CRO, CPO, and then CTO, also with many of senior VPs and Directors. Even the leader of AI left. - The CEO is a classical control freak who does not think he needs to listen to anyone, even after big name customers leaving - OutSystems was totally surprised by the AI boom and now marketing team is desperate trying to put the "AI" label to whatever they can to look like market "leaders" - CEO puts around himself yes-men and long-time employees who are loyal to him. Almost all product leadership is long-time Portuguese people who don't dare to question him on any thing. - Product has many many problems but no one taking ownership or responsibility to fix. Some bugs open for many years. The only answer is "more sales more marketing" - A company 20+ years old should not make employees use personal credit card for expenses. - Go look online at how many companies have OutSystems dev jobs. The number is small and dropping - Go look at OutSystems channel on Youtube. Content is YEARS old! Nothing new! Maybe OutSystems once was innovating company, but now they missed their window to be successful. Competition is good and getting better and moves so much faster, and internal culture is VERY political. Stay away!
