If you are stuck in a slow, stale store like I am right now, you will actually lose your mind. Optimal in my city seems to think that flooding the city with Crickets will get more money in, when literally half of these store are dead and there is nothing you can do about getting business in. There's a store less than a mile in every direction from my current one, so it is never the first store you see. Management here is just so poor. They seem like they don't have answers for anything, and there's only two managers for the entire texas region I'm in (at least 20 stores). It can be strenuous to get in contact with management over any little thing. Recently I requested to swap shifts with my coworker, he worked the evening, and I worked the morning. There should have been no reason to deny this, but they took their time (5 days) after relentlessly trying to contact them to finally tell me that its against company policy. I'm really gonna check and see if that's the case, or if that's what they told me due to pure laziness. Our cases at our area are THIRTY DOLLARS. They expect you to sell accessories to everyone and sell iPhones and other flagship phones, when we don't even carry cases for all of our phones, and literally overprice them to where even a toddler could say what the heck? $30 for a clear plastic case. I'll order one thank you. Our store won't even order iPhones for us and people ask for them all the time. Management expects us to bring business in by sign spinning, flyer placing, and facebook posts, when they fail to recognize that this does absolutely nothing. Your store team lead can make you sound really bad if they don't like you, or you get in a disagreement, and then your work environment can be very unenthusiastic, since you work with the same 3 people per store. At least that's how it works here. Don't worry about commission, it won't be worth it.
