Pros

Team was good. Nice people, although not always available for help and most seemed pretty miserable. Wage is top-tier for northern companies. (Although this doesn't matter much anymore as remote working has forced northern companies to try and match the south).

Cons

Your monitored by upper-management 24/7 with 'active track' so they can watch your screen while you work from home. Your forced to remote into a pc on there site, meaning your typing and work speed is therefore limited by wifi connection, if your having problems with your wifi they won't care, and just think your lazy. While your offered a '1 day a month in office' contract, your will be attacked by upper management to come into the office as much as possible. more of a hassle if anything. The code sucks, or at least the codebases i worked on did. All legacy php, everything thrown in one class, horrible to work with. makes work harder. and is about 30 years behind in terms of modern tech standards. You will be given a windows pc which is ripped straight out of a kids primary school and all 2nd hand hardware. (My keyboard has the stands on the back ripped off with some keys letters missing [Still had the key, just faded off]) Says 9-5, but you will be required to be online at 8:45 to join a scrum meeting outside of your listed hours. Like. WHY!? Too many scrum meetings, you don't need a daily update on every small issue. that as well you have another weekly meeting with your top manager about your progress. Like christ. give it a break. got told it was because the devs wanted it but from the people i spoke too this is a direct lie. They offer minimum benefits for days off, Holiday pay, and parking, you can't park unless you've been there 5 years. you'll be forced to park 10 mins away and walk. You can't take holiday anytime you want, you need to give 2 weeks notice. YOUR SPECIFICATION Sheets are horrendous. You'll be given a spec to work towards, however, everything they write on it is open to interpretation and you can't just tackle each issue how you want. upper management wants it all done in a specific way, so you'll find yourself on calls more often than not trying to figure out exactly what they need. (I KNOW This is standard practice for most dev work, but at one call, it was over the top and the specifications are all rushed out). you HAVE to get the information otherwise you'll get a testing 'failure' with nothing to do with the code being broken, just being you didn't do exactly what they asked. and if you get these 'failures' your manager will be grilling you and talking to you like your a child and will treat you like awfully. Honestly, if you're still reading this, one call insurance is the last company you should work for as a dev. I warn any future devs on going for this as i haven't even listed out all my main issues. Here's a quick list. 1. Uninspiring issues 2. Horrible managers. 3. Horrible codebase 4. Horrible issues. 5. Horrible equpiment 6. Horrible support. 7. horrible benefits. 8. 1995 mentality towards work 9. forced into the office 10. No trust for employees 11. horrible tech stacks with no sight of improvement (This is different if you work on the better projects) 12. no sympathy. 13. forced to go to socials(Forced as in, you will be given the cold shoulder if you're not turning up all the time to events) 14. DON'T WORK ON CLAIMS It hard to be motivated for a job that gives you nothing, works awful, and its not that inspiring or innovative. if you want to survive in this industry you need to find somewhere that keeps up to date with tech. and holds its morals with what it gives its workers and the environments they create. About a month in i'd already lost all motivation to try, I knew i'd made a mistake with the company, I tried to continue to get motivated but if the work was not there and it doesn't click you'll never improve properly. Its easier as a junior to turn up as you don't know what to expect from a developer job. but the second you change to a better tech focused company you'll realise how backwards OneCall Really is.

Pros

You get to come home “sometimes” when people stop calling.

Cons

Where do I start you never know what wage you are taking home from month to month as you on a tier scale. You are forced to work until all calls are gone and it’s a 0 even if you finish before the centre is closed “I understand if you finish at close time” forces to work mandatory overtime at least one weekend a month. Treat like crap by managers who don’t care. 30 days notice needed for holidays or even doctors appointments. Did I say treat like crap by managers. Expected to perform miracles on a dials basis every error mate you loose £10 out of your already poor salary.

Hello Thank you for taking the time to leave a review I can only apologise that you feel this way, allow me to explain some of the things you have mentioned We operate 8am-8pm Mon-Friday and 9am-4pm on weekends, staff work a full time 37.5 hour week so we have various shift patterns to cover these hours, we appreciate that all calls and chats need to be answered before you leave at the end of your shift however we cant leave consumers in the queue so we would expect you to answer these before you go, we need you to understand that we cant cut consumers off, if they are in the queue then we need to assist them with their query Yes we do ask that staff contribute to Overtime, that may be on weekends or before/after your shift depending on what Rota you are on, however we do pay £15 an hour for Overtime which we feel is a generous amount and Overtime is in no way mandatory, its optional Regarding Holidays, we ask for 7 days notice, this is to accomodate Rotas and staffing levels so that we can ensure our phone lines and chats are covered with enough staff to cover, we feel that 7 days notice for holidays is more than satisfactory, however if anybody needed an emergency holiday then they can refer to their manager or head of at any time to request this. Regarding appointments, there is not a 30 day notice period for this at all so I am unsure why you think that, staff can request time off for appointments aslong as they make their manager aware for the same reasons mentioned above Regarding the £10 out of your salary again I am unsure what that is or what you are referring to, we dont charge people £10 for anything. I will also address your comments re Tier pay, yes we do have a tier system in place, your SPIs are monitored daily and monthly to ensure that you are achieving your targets, tier pay ranges depending on your age and you can earn up to £23,374 per annum which we feel is more than adequate and its reliant on your working hard to achieve them, which is what businesses would expect What is most concerning is that most of the processes you have mentioned above arent accurate and for somebody that has stated you have been working for us 8-10 years then this is concerning that you arent aware of our internal procedures or have a misunderstanding of them. We contact all staff that leave to ask them to leave a review so I would encourage you to do this, I would also encourage you to contact us directly so that we can discuss these with you. We have had no reports of the above issues raised to us internally which is again concerning so I would like to undertsand how you have misunderstood our processes and ensure that all staff are aware of them Many Thanks

Pros

Offers upskilling opportunities Co-workers are friendly The development team and projects team are by far the best to be a part of. Can't say much for call centre side as I never approached it

Cons

Directors and upper management lack empathy for out-of-control situations. If you are seen having even a small amount of time off no matter the circumstance it is unacceptable.

Pros

Not one positive point that I can think of

Cons

Absolutely shocking experience I started employment February 2020 at One Call Claims, completed my workplace training and was put on the phones to take first notification of loss calls, 2 weeks later lockdown happened and all employees were furloughed in line with government guidelines, was advised we would all receive furlough pay and that we were to return back to the office as soon as they received news from the government Payday arrives, and I discover that no furlough pay has been paid to myself, only to find out an hour or so later that I wasn’t eligible for any furlough pay due to one call not getting my details to HMRC in time, of course at this late stage all of the part time jobs and supermarkets etc had been taken up by others that needed to get by through the lockdown. Myself along with the 7 others who started at the same time were left without any wages to get through the lockdown, with no help whatsoever from the company. Government restrictions started to lift and we were brought back in. Couple of months later I progress onto another team where I constantly hit the highest tier (gold) for 3 months, awarded start of the month. Coincidentally the powers that be at the top decide to then change the SPI’s that you had to hit so it was nigh on impossible to even hit the middle tier I imagine that they had not factored in that I was on the upper end of minimum wage (due to being over 23) and compared to majority of the workforce being under 21, the gold tier payment had cost them more to pay myself, so the only way to stop paying extra is to change the tiers. I did question this at the time with senior management but this did not warrant me any favours. One call were subject to a cyber attack which meant they couldn’t operate but due to a clause in everyone’s contracts, meant that they could temporarily put people on forced leave and didn’t have to pay for the time that you were off, so be wary of this too Due to the tiers being nigh on impossible to hit, I decided I wanted to move to a different team, so I started in a post on the broker side of the group ‘one call insurance’ once I had moved over I then was told that any notice period that I would have to work (if I found employment elsewhere) was 3 months, this of course was non negotiable and that then it was too late to say no. About 8 months later in the new year, i developed a back injury, due to time off I was informed that I would lose my attendance allowance (the monthly £100 bonus that they pay each month) for the full year. I wasn’t quite sure how they agreed that this was fair as you cannot help being ill/injured. With all the stress I had also developed shingles, management did nothing to support this and just shunned it off as if it wasn’t a genuine medical concern Thankfully I managed to find gainful employment elsewhere a couple of months later, where I feel genuinely appreciated, paid fairly and my mental health and wellbeing is the best it’s been for a good few years. The company also attempted to deduct £250 off of my final wage saying this was for my staff door fob and computer equipment, where in fact this was all accounted and signed for when I left, so unsure why they thought to try take it from me, I did manage to get the money refunded but this was after showing them concrete evidence so they didn’t have a leg to stand on…so make sure that when you leave you have everything documented In short, the worst job I’ve had, I wouldn’t return here even if it was the last job on earth

Pros

Free dinners after 5 years

Made to work for free, you couldn't voice your opinions without getting a disciplinary, managers are all about power and want to control you, if you was late by 1 minute you have to make time back! plus take bonuses off you at any given time

Pros

I have worked at One Call for over 25 years, working in a number of departments during my time here, staring off all them years ago as a customer advisor. There are some great staff benefits available when reaching different service lengths such as free lunch, health insurance and for my 20 years service I was gifted a first class trip to Miami. The company events they hold for the races and Christmas parties are awesome. There are career opportunities for progression to different roles, or to be enrolled on our course of excellence program. If you work hard you will get noticed.

Cons

Nothing really. Yes I have had my ups and downs over my time here, but that is just normal for a relationship of this length.

Pros

Great atmosphere, very good progression availability is all managers are made internally not hired from elsewhere, ability to choose your own wage with overtime pay at £20 p/h with uncapped earnings, yearly bonus, work events, charity events

Cons

Takes time and patience to fully develop, as the job can be demanding in some areas, the only way to progress is to have patience with yourself and get to know the systems
