Pros

I was lucky with the production I was on. We had creators on a show that were very encouraging and inviting to all artists to bring something fresh to the look of their original series. Nick has a lot of mixer parties. Although it's mainly for the enjoyment of executives, artists are invited. They have a lot of galleries that can be requested and featured by current employees. Nick does a lot of great work for the community. Clean the LA River, lots of children tours walking them through the studio, as well as drawing/mentor classes with kids.

Cons

I knew what I was getting into. Nickelodeon is known for spending years and dollars only to have that series CANNED. They are also known for sweet talking international artists to pitch shows for a potential visa, only to string them along for show ideas and have no place for them to go. No visa. They let a lot of AMAZING artists slip through their fingers as well as new original series. I know I wouldn't return. They laid off my entire design team of artists after holidays. With no previous warning! And no place for anyone to leap onto another production. I was the only artist working for a month to only be laid off as well although I saw it coming from previous events. Their recruitment team at the time isn't very good at catching all the artists from ending series. This is result of lacking in new incoming shows. They very often have turned their new building into an event hall for a lot of private parties. It can be very distracting and somewhat difficult exiting the studio or avoid terrible traffic the street the studio is on.

Pros

I've made some great friends at Nickelodeon. The unreasonably tight deadlines trained me to become excellent at my craft.

Cons

They like to hire kids straight out of school so they can under pay them. They don't value their talent and don't even try to keep talent. In the same breath they will thank you for your hard work and making such a successful show for them and then only give you a 0.5 percent raise. There is also no room for growth here. Why would you want to move up in a company where your own boss hates their job? Even if you are talented beyond your job description, there is no opportunity to demonstrate it because you are a cog in a big animation production pipeline.
