Pros

Co-workers are very competent and friendly. Everyone gets along very well and we genuinely enjoy working with each other. Great camaraderie.

Cons

Upper management cooks up crazy, unattainable, and flat out bad ideas and plans. When their ignorant and impossible ideas do not happen according to their schedule, they behave completely unprofessionally for a week or so, then take action against (fire) some folks who happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time - usually four or so worker bees get canned per stupid idea. But this works well for management because when the fact that the schedule will be missed becomes obvious to them (everyone else knew that the Titanic had already hit the iceberg from day one -sorry Leo), they miraculously have an epiphany realizing that their original ideas were incredibly stupid. So by roasting the lucky four scapegoats at the stake, management can shift the blame onto others, and come out unscathed. Lots and lots of politics and even more CYA. To change subjects... as a non-management employee, when you hit fifty you suddenly have a target on your back. That target gets bigger each year. Any minor "personnel action" is used to can those with the biggest targets. Back room personnel "shenanigans" take place to justify the "actions". It's so sad and disgusting to see it happen over and over again. Management and Personnel's ethics are in the dirt. Ruthless.

Horrible Company

Pros

U.S. based pay and benefits good due to legacy Freescale having far more U.S. employees at the time of acquisition such that Freescale's benefits were kept.

Cons

This company sucks - hard. If you are not based in Europe, you are at the bottom of the pile. U.S. employees are far more likely to lose the lottery of forced 10% or so poor reviews. Mid management has even been heard joking that European managers with U.S. based direct reports can use the U.S. based employees "as a buffer" to keep European employees from getting bad reviews. As an employee of Freescale prior to the NXP buyout, I can tell you things were much better as Freescale. Gregg Lowe was a much better CEO as well. On top of everything else, NXP is bungling business such that future opportunities are being lost to competitors. Unless you enjoy being on the bottom and expendable, don't apply at NXP if you are in the U.S. I know many employees have left since the NXP takeover, and I have overheard many conversations of others disgusted with the company.
