Pros

Retail leader, follow and use new technology fast in product

Cons

All decisions are made by one person. How an employee is doing in the company all depends on whether one person likes you or not.

Pros

I’ve worked at several big named companies in the Bay Area and am pleased to have found a long term stay at NETGEAR. Politics? None. Working outside of my comfort zone? Yup. Learning everyday through challenges, mistakes, and successes? You bet! It amazes me at how passionate the management and Executive teams are (especially in Marketing, IT, and Product Management) – they thrive in fast-paced and extremely competitive environments. I’ve never worked at a company where the Marketing leadership team actually works HARDER than I do, and I’m a pretty diligent worker – always been the hardest worker at other companies. Especially in Marketing, this pushes everyone to be on their A+ game at all times. I have to admit, sometimes it does get stressful and at times I am outside of my comfort zone, but isn’t that the point of work? Work should be fun, exciting, yet challenging and crazy! It keeps things fresh! Keeps me learning! If you’re looking for a place to grow in your career, work in a fast-paced environment, and work with/for people who actually care about you and their work, then NETGEAR is the place for you. The diversity of the teams create an environment where everyone's voice is heard regardless of experience level, upbringing, etc. Nothing is sugar coated, nothing is given, but for me, that’s awesome and why I look forward to growing my career at NETGEAR. I’ve learned more these past few years at NETGEAR than I have in my 13+ year career.

Cons

NETGEAR is not a one-size fits all work environment. The Executive team challenges each individual to succeed and to some that is uncomfortable and maybe frightening. Every employee contributes to the success of NETGEAR, which could be nerve-wracking that your work could actually impact the stock price, but the management team is there to help as long as you’re communicative. Do not get me wrong, it does get stressful and it is a challenging place to work, but that’s because NETGEAR is in the market to compete. Their success has been built on innovation – heck they may have invented the word innovate – and for those who struggle with how to bring that level of work to their day-to-day, it may be dificult. But, my advice is to be communicative with your management team before you get too stressed, so they can help pave the right path. This has worked out for me – constant communication and openness from the beginning clears the air.

Pros

Good technology, company builds solid products.

Cons

Not supportive of women - was there over 2 years and not one woman on my team was promoted, meanwhile 3 men were. Business makes poor decisions - consistently doesn't make bonus (in 2017 employees didn't receive a bonus because the company didn't meet expectations). Not making bonus is a product of the executive leadership team choosing to discount products (promos) to the point where we don't make a profit instead of investing in marketing and getting new customers. The organization consistently does the same thing over and over again instead of testing and learning - they do not take risks. There is no work-life balance, I was consistently overworked with zero support my entire time at NETGEAR. Even after requesting for direct reports to assist with my workload, I was denied the support and resources I needed to do my job effectively.
