Pros

You can set your own time when you want to work there is no fixed schedule and no boss to really look over your shoulder because they don't care so long as you keep the building clean and put the garbage bins out to be picked up for disposal. But you still have to do your job just when you want to some weeks you work for 6 days other times you work only 2 for when the garbage needs to be put out. You may get a free apartment with basic cable that they will include as part of your job because they only hire live-in superintendents. It can be an ideal place to work for if you are semi-retired and don't really want to work too much but remember some weeks it can get nasty for you and the work never stops sometimes.

Cons

Company can be very tight with their money. The pay is on the low end ($12000 to $16000 a year gross not net with apartment included) and that is why the management never really bothers you to do much. When maintenance needs to get done on an apartment get ready for the complaints as tenants get frustrated and take it out on you because it can take months to have the maintenance crew fix an issue and half the time it never gets fixed at all. A lot of the buildings tenants are on the low end of the income spectrum (many on welfare) and they treat all the buildings like their personal trash bin throwing stuff in the hall ways, defecating, urinating, the list goes on and on. This company is so cheap that they no longer have Christmas parties and never give out bonus or raises. They pay commission of $25 dollars to rent and clean an apartment while other companies will pay you $100-200 per unit turn over. Also while I was working for this company I had no benefits as well. If you work for them for many years you may eventually get benefits or if they are desperate enough to hire you at the start my advice would be to ask for benefits in writing before you sign any contract otherwise you will not get it. There is no surveillance camera's that record in any of their buildings, they do not use computers so everything is written by paper to communicate unless it is an emergency than you can call the property manager to talk to them. The company is run like it is from 1975 I am not joking. Because of this there is a lot of crime in their buildings, break-ins, squatters, stolen vehicles in the parking garage, assaults, and other minor crimes in most of their buildings.
