Toxic Place

Cons

I worked for MHS for 20 years in software development. In that time I became the most experienced person on the team, having deeper knowledge of every product released, assisting every one else on the team, and always completed projects ahead of their deadline to help out others. In that time I saw nearly nobody promoted. This is not a place for growth. People usually worked here for a couple years before realizing this and then left. Even then it was difficult for a lot of people to find another job because of how niche this company is. The company also had a habit of laying off great employees so that they can hire straight out of college graduates for cheap. The CEO had successfully convinced all high tenure people that they wouldn’t be valued nearly as much in other companies and they should stay. What value meant to her I’m not sure because the pay certainly wasn’t great and we got laid off anyways. Later being replaced by a low income college graduate. This is a company that thinks they have an amazing culture just because they call everyone a “family” in every meeting. Don’t get sucked in. There’s no benefit to working here TLDR: No growth, low pay, niche industry so applying to jobs after is difficult, CEO always calls everyone a family which is a red flag for toxic

You’ve clearly been gone from MHS for a long time. I’ve been here almost 4 years and we talk about being a team, not a family; and sometimes people get traded on teams, it’s a fact of life and business. We have a tremendous culture – our recent employee surveys prove it with approval ratings consistently over 90%. And the high number of people we have promoted from within, along with the people who voluntarily leave us because they’ve been scouted for their tremendous skills and abilities (developed at MHS) make us very proud.

Pros

I worked here for 4 years and watched it evolve in that time. I loved working at MHS , the people are great, the culture is fun and inclusive and engaging, there are lots of perks and the benefits are pretty good. This place was my second home.

Cons

Management. I got along with pretty much everyone, and I can't speak to the cons of any other department but my own. The workload can be taxing (which I personally did not mind), the management is egotistical, offensive, dismissive, and closed minded. This company is losing employees left right and center and the rate is increasing. The pay is not great. Too much office politics and favoritism. I resigned despite my love for this company.

Silence of the lambs

Pros

- Good benefits - Interesting projects - Friday breakfast - Great co-workers - Social Committee helps keep staff involved in the community

Cons

- Employees are silences and treated like lambs in a slaughterhouse - Lack of leadership and poor decisions - COO gives the same talks at every town hall, (where's the mute button) - No career path for advancement - No professional development - Lower pay than industry average - Company finances and profitability over anything else - They fired incredible people because it's a manager's world, don't disagree with them or you're next - R&D team fights within themselves, very unprofessional and difficult to work with - CEO is very disconnected from his company because the COO selects what he gets told
