Toxic work culture

Pros

Some genuinely talented and supportive colleagues who made difficult days more bearable. Discount on Moonpig products.

Cons

A toxic culture with extremely high staff turnover and a lack of effective leadership. Decisions often felt driven by senior management opinions rather than customer insight or evidence. The company’s external message of celebrating life’s moments wasn’t reflected internally. Management in some areas could be dismissive and intimidating, creating an environment where people felt undervalued. One of the most negative workplaces I’ve experienced, and I’d encourage anyone considering joining to ask thoughtful questions about culture and leadership first.

Pros

Hybrid working - 2 days in the office

Cons

Overall, I would not recommend the Buyagift & Red Letter Days online trading team to anyone looking for supportive management, strong development, or a culture that values wellbeing and appreciation. Poor management within the online trading team. Very limited autonomy and a heavy level of micromanagement. This creates a difficult and demotivating day-to-day experience. This atmosphere has contributed to high turnover within the online trading team. The online trading team and company culture is poor and disconnected. There is no appreciation or recognition, little sense of team cohesion, and not much effort made to create a positive or welcoming environment. There is also very little collaboration culture in practice. Information often feels tightly controlled, and team members are not given enough opportunity to work directly with other functions or take ownership of broader projects. The online trading team also relies on outdated and clunky tools, which makes routine tasks more time-consuming and inefficient than they need to be. HR response times are also extremely poor, even on important matters such as payroll, pension, and contracts. Leadership and direction feel lacking, particularly during the transition following the Moonpig merger, with ongoing uncertainty across the Experiences side of the business.
