Pros

Some great colleagues who try to support each-other in such a toxic work environment

Cons

There are serious issues with the current management approach, both in terms of people leadership and operational effectiveness. Genuine concerns raised by staff are often dismissed or met with gaslighting, despite repeated invitations to share feedback, creating a culture of distrust and performative communication. There is a noticeable lack of empathy, and employees are often treated more like children than professionals, with minimal trust, autonomy, or empowerment. Micromanagement is the default, under the mistaken belief that it drives productivity, when in fact it stifles morale and efficiency. While the company promotes flexible work arrangements in job ads and during onboarding, the reality is very different. Working from home, even when unwell, is discouraged or outright denied, contributing to the regular spread of illness in the office. Ironically, senior leaders often work remotely themselves, reinforcing a clear double standard. Performance expectations are unclear, and feedback tends to focus on minor criticisms rather than constructive or positive reinforcement. Over time, this leads to disengagement, frustration, and a sense that individual effort makes little difference. Oh and good luck trying to get career progression here, they only hire/promote their friends.

Pros

If there was any, I didn't find them...

Cons

Poor management, empty promises, and deeply flawed systems, all from a company that claims to care but clearly doesn’t. They’re drowning in work yet running things like a mum-and-dad operation. Archaic software, made-up processes, and shockingly bad communication (if any at all). They keep hiring and firing people, convinced the staff are the problem, when it’s clearly the management and their broken systems. I was let go five and a half months into a six-month probation. Sounds more like a them issue than a me issue. Surely, they knew I wasn’t a fit long before then. On Monday, they were trying to get me out of jury duty because I was “indispensable.” By Thursday, I was fired. Weird. Apparently, I wasn’t meeting KPIs, though, interestingly, no one was, thanks to the crushing workload and useless systems. Or maybe there was another reason… who knows. Oh, and they let me go on R U OK? Day. I’m sure the irony was lost on them. Save your sanity, your time, and your self-respect, and just don’t.
