Pros

You will likely meet some great people. Important: none of them are execs/leadership.

Cons

Extremely narcissistic, hypocritical leadership is the death of this company. If you have worked at Mode, or even interviewed here, you have heard of the famous "values" the leadership likes to tout, which is laughable considering their actions are the exact opposite of what they preach. Many of the mid level managers only care about looking good in front of leadership, advancing on their own career ladder, rather than nurturing and mentoring their reports. Mode had a huge layoff during Covid last year, during which they gave out the same, bare minimum severance package to every parting employees - those who had only worked there for 3 months, and the those who had worked there for many years. Just a couple months later, when they started hiring for similar roles again, they did not reach out to any of the those former employees. That should tell you how disposable you are to the leadership, despite them claiming otherwise. There is very little organization in place for design/product/engineering teams. Priorities and roadmaps can change in a blink of an eye. You always end up working harder than you really need to due to the severe lack of process. If you do not want to increase your cortisol level, just stay away from this company.

Pros

Location, food and a few nicer folks

Cons

No words can explain the shamelessness of this place and the management. If you just study the nature of all the (manufactured) five star reviews and timing you will see to yourself the real soul of this place. Preachy and self righteous leadership that touts great value system. But behind the scenes it’s just too shady. All are equal but some are more equal is a phrase made for this leadership. People who schmooze up to the powerful grow with the blink of an eye and the real doers just leave. I have never seen a slimier place than this in my career. Stay away at all cost.

Pros

They have a lot of projects to work on.

Cons

- leadership asks employees to be transparent but share only the minimum regarding employee firings. - performance reviews are based on poorly defined metrics and scores are arbitrarily assigned. Some of the worst cases I've seen involve hyper-focusing on superficial metrics like communication styles and completely disregarding actual technical contributions - they continuously fired employees all throughout 2019 with a major round of layoffs in April? 2020 and were not acquired like any of their competitors (Looker, Tableau). Yes, it looks likes they just closed another round of funding but be sure to check their revenue to make sure it's an acceptable amount of risk for you (2 years of MRR, burn rate, etc) - don't disagree with anything the leadership does even if they invite you to chime in
