Pros

A job is a job

Cons

- Takes advantage of young staff and finds loopholes to pay below minimum wage (I was over 18 earning €9.25 when minimum was €9.55) - Have to pay for uniform shoes but not supposed to take them home, only supposed to be worn in store - Always held competitions between stores and never came through on prizes such as ice creams or cupcakes for the store or even vouchers for staff - was promised a bigger contract after Christmas and then this never happened

Pros

The people in store. Lovely shoes.

Cons

Poor work life balance in stores. Head office expect staff to change shifts and work extra hours with very little notice. Minimum wage with no additional benefits other than those that they are legally required to provide. Low morale in stores due to bullying Area Manager who speaks to everyone as though they are stupid. Extremely high turnover of staff with Management regulary walking from the job due to the poor treatment from the Area Manager. Staff are overworked as the company does not allow enough staffing hours to serve customers. 30 minute break only leaving staff exhausted. Area Manager dictates no Saturdays off, yet does not work Saturdays herself. Little stock in the business, not enough for all the shops. Company sets high unrealistic target so that they do not have to pay out bonus. Impossible to achieve! Staff on minimum wage have to buy shoes to wear for work. This includes staff on a four hour contract. They need to work for two weeks to pay for the shoes before they in profit, making them earn less than the minimum wage. Regular errors with staff wages, with some staff not getting paid at all. The Area Manager does not care. Area Manager does not acknowledge staff in store. Thinks she is too good to speak to them.

Pros

Can only think of one but she's no longer there

Cons

This could be a novel but I'll keep it brief. The managing director is beyond clueless and makes empty promises. The new area manager just constantly passes the book and is demotivating. Not a patch on the old area manager who constantly kept us upbeat and motivated and kept the perfect balance between stores and head office. Tracy was always a pleasure to work for. The buyer has no imagination and constantly buys repeats clearly doesn't understand the fashion market and so staff don't want to pay half price for products so why would customers want to pay full price maybe this is why the company constantly fails and has to rob peter to pay Paul!!
