      All Outsourced - Not Valuing Seattle Employees

      Pros

      Good work/life balance for some. Free snacks Some good people who continue to leave to feel valued and make industry standard pay.

      Cons

      No team lunches or other outings due to tight budgets. Employees leave and are not backfilled. Management believes we can be replaced by offshore teams although that strategy is failing in many ways costing even more money. Morale is low, money is tight, there are very few raises or advancements other than friends brought in by new management.

We’ve had an intense last few years with a lot of changes as we have transitioned to the next phase of our successful company. Part of these changes have included investing and focusing in new and different areas, which might make it seem like we aren’t backfilling every position or are focused on outsourcing.       Losing sight of what they just recently realized

      Pros

      Have always valued "work/life balance". Usually "empower at the bottom". Insurance was decent, HSA, 401K, 4 weeks vacation w/ seniority. My position included options, restricted shares, and cash bonuses, but not huge ones.

      Cons

      Upper management all has a "sales" mentality and consistently prefers to chase the shiny penny of some new deal. Poor product management including too much turn-over leads to a lot of vague product visions geared mostly toward impressing upper management which interferes with ultimate success. Loss of focus appears to be accelerating the decline now.

      There's still some great people left.

      Cons

      The engineering org is preparing for mass exodus. Two layoffs and engineering has been slashed by more than a third, there's no one in the rooms making decisions who appreciate engineering, and most folks in engineering are looking to get out now.
