100% turnover!

Pros

Smart and hardworking team. I remain friends with most people that I worked with.

Cons

Employer does discriminate when making new hires. I was apart of hiring the new CTO who I would have to work with very closely because I was the most senior engineer at the time. I quickly learned that my feedback did not matter and Matt (CEO) was going to hire whoever would become best friends with him and suck up to him. Matt decided to go with someone I strongly discouraged because of race and clearly not experience. An african american CTO with absolutely no cto/engineering background vs another candidate we had who was white, had a successful track at being a CTO at other startups and strong engineering background. There was a 100% turnover within a year from the day I started. Most quit like me but others where fired. I'd like to see Tanya CMO 'co-founder' explain herself on this one. It seems to me all the good reviews are coming from interns and current employees on here. I remember when she made us all write about our interview experience on here because we got a string of bad reviews. Tanya is like a high school drama queen. Expect her to gossip negatively about you behind your back to other employees when you leave the company. Matt and Tanya are in a relationship and it is obvious that it gets in the way of the companies success.

Pros

The concept. It's great and could be brilliantly executed if the Founders got out of the way.

Cons

Where to start. Basically this is a company that makes no revenue, is fast losing investors, can't raise capital and has founders which think they're doing it tough because they're a racial minority. If you don't fit their racial minority boxes expect to be discriminated against. They actually fired all foreigners and "non-minority" workers. I sat in hiring discussions where they wouldn't hire people because they'd come from more affluent families or were too "white- middle class" (to quote the CEO). Frankly these people are a disaster (& law suit) waiting to happen. And that's before everything else.

We greatly appreciate positive and critical feedback from team members, users and the greater general public as it continues to push us to improve as a team and as individuals. We must, however, in this particular review address a number of inaccuracies: For those interested in our diversity, here is a breakdown: 3 African American / Black 3 Latino / Hispanic 4 Asian American 9 White - 3 in senior level or management positions 11 women, 8 men You can learn more about the team here: makersrow.com/team As you can see, we believe in diverse workplaces, and do not discriminate against employees based on race, gender, sexual orientation, economic background or religion. We have never and will never disqualify a candidate based on these variables. We care about ensuring that our workplace is friendly and that our team is as diverse as our online community. As for revenue: we have a healthy stream of revenue that is consistently growing, happy customers, and have helped thousands of businesses stay in business or get started. We have helped create hundreds of American jobs. While we are building our core product features we are not fundraising, so claims of “losing” investors are inaccurate, and unsubstantiated, as are the revenue figures mentioned in the above review. We have had to put some team members on improvement plans. Our leadership team is dedicated to listening to team members and their direct reports and when we hear of mismanagement, wrongdoing and unfriendly behavior, we give that feedback to management and the team member so that behavior can be improved. While we are not perfect, we continue to dedicate ourselves and team members to continued growth. We are actively hiring for an Operations leader, with someone that shares our values and vision.

Pros

The idea if executed properly, is great. The founders really know how to sell you on a pitch to make you feel good. The rest of the team is great, smart, very talented, very friendly, Unfortunately that talent is being wasted. They should work somewhere else.

Cons

Too many to count, management is probably the biggest problem because it effects how the company is run, they really know how to fool employees into thinking they know what they are doing but its a ship that is really gonna sink soon. Very high turnover rate, very low morale all around. There is also favoritism which is very apparent.
