Lockheed Martin IT
2 Aug 2018 - Senior Systems Analyst in Fredericksburg, VARecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
High level of integrity throughout the company, open communications, and sincere interest in doing the right thing.
Cons
Unfortunately, I need to come up with twenty words of cons. When in reality after 41+ years in IT, I have no cons for Lockheed Martin. They are not perfect, but highly acceptable.

Not bad but not great
29 May 2023 - Would Rather Not Say in Courtland, ALRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Well lit and air conditioned manufacturing floor. Some of the people are great.
Cons
Some leads and management heads are... well you know. Pay is at the low end of the industry. Always threatening talk of how other sites want the work. As if that's supposed to motivate us to do better. Some of the engineering team think they are so intelligent but have never built any of the product. Instructions frequently out of order or messed up because nobody proofreads the copy-pasted information.

Great onboarding
28 May 2023 - Technology Analyst in Dallas-Fort WorthRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
The initial onboarding process is amazing. They have done a great job streamlining this process. Ok benefits. Talent Acquistion / HR is really great, it was the one part of the company that has made me really impressed.
Cons
The actual team onboarding process is lacking. Knowledge sharing is terrible. There is a weird culture that is so formal and stiff. 10 hour days are terrible, on paper they sound great. In reality that balance is horrible. The team I am on neglected to tell me on the interview that overnight and weekend time would be required. I am either waiting it our for an internal opportunity or moving on.

Working at Lockheed
19 May 2023 - Senior Electrical Engineer III in Orlando, FLRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Lockheed is a great company to work for, if it does what it preaches. I like that it has established rules and procedures to develop its products. There are many opportunities for training.
Cons
It preaches integrity but find a way not to do what it preaches in terms of providing opportunities for growth to the employees that does not belong to favorite group. Recognition awards go to the members of favorite group and not necessarily to the people that does good work for the company. I found resistance to allow me to work on developing my skills in an area I wanted, FPGA design.

Pike County Operations - LRSS
24 May 2023 - Multi-Function Manufacturing Supervisor in Troy, ALRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
People minus managers and above and HR. Assemblers are like anywhere, you get a mixed bag of really great workers to people who are there taking up space. Overall the job and the people make it a good experience.
Cons
Managers, Sr Managers, and HR are all in bed with each other and produce a very toxic environment. If you get into any of the other programs, I believe you have a good chance of having a great experience, but if you fall into the LRSS realm, you are in for a rough time unless you enjoy being a yes person.

Outstanding company for pay and personal life balance
22 Mar 2023 - Software Engineer in Grand Prairie, TXRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
I work at Lockheed Martin - MFC in Grand Prarie and the work culture is great. All 4 managers I've had so far have been well trained, helpful, and looked out for their teams in terms of promotions/time of/career development. The pay is less than what a software engineer would make at a more tech oriented company but I believe I am fairly compensated. The time off I get it phenomenal, I have allocated PTO time which I can take a moments notice (though it is better to give managers time to plan for vacation and such). But days where I am mentally exhausted and burnt out, I am enabled to take as much time as I need to recharge. The work is pretty interesting, technically challenging, and worthwhile to do.
Cons
The pay is probably the biggest con. That isn't to say I am severely underpaid, but in comparison to compaines like Bank of America, BCG, fintech, or other similar companies, I am paid far less. The other biggest con is that some of the technologies are outdated due to maintenance requirements of certain government contracts and such. For example, requiring some software to maintain a C++98 standard when we are on 2023.

Great for Work life balance
21 May 2023 - Senior Software Engineer in King of Prussia, PARecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
- Mostly 40-45 hour weeks. - Slower paced and lower stress work environment - individual contributions and achievements recognized frequently - stable and predictable company that provides great work life balance - senior management are all very experienced in the field or with the company. I generally get a feel that the higher ups know what they are doing
Cons
- limited opportunities for remote work/WFH and work travel - lots of work with many older/outdated software stacks - slow pace of work not for everybody - compensation for software professionals is below average for the industry. Medical and other benefits very sub par

Once Fantastic During Pandemic, Lots of Recent Negative Changes
12 Apr 2023 - Senior Accountant in Orlando, FLRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
- Remote 3 days per week - 401k match and great benefits - Flex scheduling (I normally work earlier in day with few issues outside of certain presentations or close weeks)
Cons
- Must commute to office one day per week in business area positions, even if it doesn't make sense (corporate positions are fully remote) - Hiring/promotion process takes a LONG time: my L2 promotion took 4 months and L3 offer took 2.5 months - Recently offered internal promotion to Sr. Accountant, but were not willing to negotiate or counter surprising lowball offer (and also wanted me to change schedules/vast increased hours with no training help) - New management and executive teams have led to a lot of people leaving for fully remote jobs. They're trying to cut costs and not force internal layoffs.
