    Pros

The company has a lot of interesting projects that really keep you going and the work is not monotonous at all.

    Cons

Some areas are very rigid (understandable from the size of the organisation) but I think they can be improved and updated.

    Pros

    - Cordial atmosphere and friendly work colleagues. - Exciting projects for people really motivated in development issues. - Work and life balance. - The Bank is very stable and has a very good reputation outside. - Good place to network and meet new people outside the organization (if you are in a country office).

    Cons

    - Too centralized. - Poor carreer prospects for local staff. - Obsession with cost reductions. - Development Bank for Germany gets most of the attention of the management and overseas offices are forgoten. - Everything is in German. You need to know or either learn quickly German.

    Advice to Management

    - Decentralize. It will reduce costs and improve employee performance. - Provide carreer path for local staff. - Improve conditions for local staff.

    • Senior Management
Former Employee - Senior Project Officer in Cairo

I worked at KfW full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

    - Good exposure to the international development cooperation landscape - Opportunity to build networks with actors from the public sector and donors - Work-life balance is encouraged - Fair salaries - Clear communication regarding limited career prospects (5-7 years) - Great working environment among local staff

    Cons

    - Limited to no career growth prospects for staff at local offices - Employment contracts progressively strip new hires of several rights - Highly centralized with no intention for decentralization of work or decision making hence restrictive, on-demand, unclear job descriptions for local project staff - Limited opportunities for professional development e.g. training modules, courses, certifications

    Advice to Management

Management should do more to show their appreciation for local staff. Employees' needs worldwide are the same (fair treatment, fair pay, professional development, pension plans, cushioning against economic shocks). Since KfW is a fair employer, it is not difficult to transfer these "fair employment practices" to include local employees.

    Disapproves of CEO

I have been working at KfW full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    - Good exposure and a diverse working environment -Fair salaries -Strengthens contacts with other donors and key positions in the government.

    Cons

    - Unfair Policy and contracts for locally employed staff -Limited training modules -No career advancement - Authority and decision making is always given to the head office - So many young people working in Frankfurt whom needs more time to work in this kind of position. Sometimes all is a little bit untidy.

    Advice to Management

If you continue with HR policies regarding the local staff, don't say that you are a development bank with a social responsibility
