If you want to build your career up, avoid

Pros

You are going to work with young people in an informal environment. High chance to work with blue-chip companies on different kind of projects (strategy, design).

Cons

Total back-warded about Digital Marketing and UI/UX, with a lack of an original point of view. Therefore, you are going to miss the chance to experience the field that now matters most in terms of career development. Just to give you an idea. My former colleagues: - have been working there for more than 8 years and probably will keep doing that forever - after 2/6 years, resigned and went back to their previous job/employer (lucky ones) or started their own companies (brave ones) - NOBODY resigned and got a higher position in a new company The internal Academy has the same lack of vision and it provides just short courses that do not really effect on your preparation. Salaries are not proportional to the dedication requested (working at night and during weekends) and overtime does not get paid.

Low salary, no flexibility on that. The business isn't doing well, so you probably can't count on a raise. There are no female creatives in higher positions. The entire design team is made up of white men, with the exception of 2 people. Very heavily male office, and the culture reflects that. Sexist comments and the classic male behavior (interrupting, condescending) can be expected. As a designer of any level, you will be expected to stay late almost every day. You do not get paid for overtime. The design area of the office plays really loud music all day, every day. People are constantly shouting to be heard over the music. So if you are someone who likes to get work done in a calm and quiet environment, this is definitely not the place for you (even with headphones in). There is one particular designer who makes work miserable for the new juniors coming in. Think everything from mean verbal comments to taking credit for your work to taking you off projects that he wants to be on. There is definitely some great talent in the design team but this is not a place for a young designer to be mentored and to learn and grow. You will be building decks. You won’t get your hands on any “sexy” branding projects until years in. Nor will you get to speak in client meetings.

Interbrand is committed to cultivating and promoting a culture of diversity and inclusion and creating a place where all employees feel they belong. * We often have more junior team members – designers as well as other disciplines – in client meetings where they have the opportunity to speak and lead work streams. There are many people here who truly care about the employees and the environment we work in. We also hold an exit interview for each full time person who moves on, where you have the opportunity to share your experience, what worked and what didn’t.
