Pros
Some of the folks working there are great, daily delivery of fruit and veggies from Spud.ca
Cons
- The office is an open concept one which 'promotes' collaboration, but also promotes kindergarten-like behaviours. Rubber bands would regularly fly from one desk to the back of someone else's head, balls were thrown, people would basically sing/talk/yell at any time, regardless of whether someone was on the phone with a client or not... - The office is located on the dingiest part of Granville street. It is not uncommon to walk over a puddle of vomit or have to carefully avoid large groups of homeless people. Sometimes, the door to the office would be blocked by squatters, making entering or exiting the office, a very unpleasant experience. - Immediate manager completely inflexible with regards to remote work (although that was okay'd in the interview - Higher Management - not present. None of the C level execs are even located in Canada, which explains why the office is run like a Kindergarten. There is no communication with staff as to what is planned for the future. - Poor distinction of roles, which led to a lot of finger pointing across departments to get work done. - As it is a sales driven organization, Sales is king! However, so many deals would be made by cutting, cutting down delivery timelines, cost, etc.. which meant completely unrealistic timelines to deliver projects. - When I got hired, I was promised growth within the company. All I saw when I was there was positions being cut, people being fired on a regular basis and not being replaced. The fostered a negative climate, and one of complete uncertainty.
