Pros

Mission is exciting and we have a genuinely impactful product that is backed by behavioural science that drives real action within large organisations Flexible remote work Understanding of personal situations New Leadership and focus for Product/ roadmap brings renewed excitement for Humu's future direction

Cons

A Pandemic and global recession has meant we aren't immune to the challenges in the Tech market. True, Leadership had to make some tough decisions around redundancies but I don't think they could have been any clearer on where we need to be or how we can get there. In the past I think there was a naivety about our position and direction, that's not the case any more. It will take time to implement but in the meantime we just need to get on with things. Start up life is scrappy, you have to embrace that

Pros

Humu was the first company I had a strong pull toward. I waited and sought out an opportunity to work at Humu (and so many others outside Humu have shared that Humu was a dream company for them too). The amount of behavioral science and organizational psychology talent at Humu was (and is) incredible and unique. To come to find that these experts weren’t just incredible professionals, but were also kind, fun, humble, and empathetic. Our long-standing clients trust us as experts and partners. The amount of visibility, responsibility, autonomy, and transparency in the work coupled with the incredible support and mentoring people receive from each other made it an ideal work environment where proactive, talented people can really grow, thrive, and perform.

Cons

Humu is no longer the Humu I described. We’ve stripped Humu of the cultural elements and practices that made it an inherently motivating, challenging, and interesting place to work. We’ve kept many of the elements of old Humu that were less-than-functional - like silos and resistance to internal feedback - and introduced new hurdles and practices that foster frustration and fear - like rolling workforce reductions, revoking of practices that support employee wellbeing, skipped raises/promotions, lack of leadership visibility, decline in the treatment of employees from experts and stakeholders to ungrateful/replaceable resources, and lack of transparency and psychological safety.

Great culture ruined by poor leadership

Pros

Humu used to be a great place to work. You could do the best work of your life alongside the kindest, smartest, and most talented colleagues. Unfortunately, every month more of these folks walk out the door.

Cons

You’ll notice all of the good reviews are from before our new CEO took over in the summer of 2022. Along with that, a host of new leaders have been installed. These new leaders are completely ignorant of the HR Tech space, are uninterested in company culture, and resist employee input. It’s a very sad turn of events.
