Pros

1. The company is strong from a financial standpoint. 2. The pay is good for the area. 3. Benefits are pretty good. 4. Bonus structure is nice.

Cons

1. HR is so behind the times. They run this like its the 1960's manufacturing industry. It's a huge turn off to the younger generations. Don't work here if you are looking for a progressive HR mentality. There is no PTO system. They do random drug tests in the office. The wellness program is just smoke and mirrors with no substance. They shoot down any idea that comes to them quickly. The theme is "We looked at that and it doesn't make sense for us." 2. The Private equity company makes all the decisions. It's just the nature of the ownership structure. It's something you have to live with. 3. If someone is upset at the company, the company will make everyone upset so as to not deal with problem. 4. Very old, run down and out dated office. It's down right depressing.

Pros

Opportunities for making a solid impact on profit are abundant. Unfortunately that is because skills and work methods at Hoffmaster are far behind the times. One must tread very carefully and involve key long term managers and gain their support before making suggestions or taking action to try new methods or teach new skills.

Cons

Long term employees are threatened by new employees with new knowledge and skills. They have a history of colluding to get rid of any new employee who, by attempting to improve results, might expose the lack of knowledge and failure to use modern work methods that many long term employees possess.

Pros

Above Average pay for the area. Union shop. Employees can purchase 2nds several times a month. The investment company that owns Hoffmaster has spent some money on new equipment.

Cons

No vacation for new hires for at least 1 year. Could be almost 2 years depending on when you start. No personal time for at least a year either. Plan on working lots of overtime especially during the summer months. Could be 52-68 hours a week. 10-15 years behind the times. Some equipments 40-50 years old. Managers / Value Stream are nothing more than yes men who have no idea what they are doing. Nothing more than clipboard managers. The place is pretty much run by the seat of their pants.
