Pros

Great relationships with shop staff. When it was good it was good.

Cons

The Henderson way of operating their post offices in general. No dedicated post office clerks unless you worked in a large office meaning you relied on post office trained shop staff to cover you breaks, lunch, evenings and weekends. Shop staff were still expected to do shop duties whilst rostered on the post office which resulted in mistakes which would normally be easily avoided if a ridiculous amount of expectation wasn’t placed on shop staff. Having to double check cash after shop staff were on the post office. Irregular breaks often spent doing admin work because it’s the only time you get. Senior management pushing more services on you despite not having adequate facilities/space and staffing.

Pros

Made friends working where I did and emt some nice colleagues along the way...

Cons

There are loads, but to name a few: Took away bonuses in order to raise pay by pennies. However, management still get their bonuses for the shop making profit despite the shop staff being the ones who stock the shelves, serve customers, upsell, etc... Only give you your rota a couple of days in advance despite managers being told to have them up 2/3 weeks in advance. Your years holidays have to be booked in January so you have no flexibility in last minute plans or matching up with friends/family. Management make you work beyond your remit in order for them to get the results that they can use to impress their bosses, and don't give you credit. To reiterate, management get bonuses for the shop making profit, not the shop staff who stock the shelves, serve customers, upsell, etc... Management do not care about your wellbeing as a staff member e.g. if you take mental health leave you will be seen as a burden to the store.
