Pros

Newly built, modern building in a great location in Huntington Beach. Onsite office bar that’s fully stocked with beer. Open to employees 3 days a week. Onsite gym that offers Crossfit and Yoga classes after work. Awesome industry, awesome suppliers. If you’re a beer geek, this is a great company to work for. Free cases of beer every now and again.

Cons

Pay is lower than industry standard. The company tries to make up for it by giving out small raises every year, but it will take years to even get up to the industry standard. Some people even have second jobs to help offset the lower than average pay. The work load increases every time the company acquires a new business unit, yet management doesn’t make it a priority to hire more people. They expect you to do more on top of an already overwhelming workload as they drag their feet on hiring. Management is severely disconnected with what their employees do on a day-to-day basis. Besides telling us what to do, see and learn what we do first before setting unrealistic expectations. Yes, you may have done it many, many years ago, but it’s a whole different world now. And please stop hiding in your offices, we can feel your passive aggressiveness oozing into the hallways. If you’re good at CYA activities, this is a great area to be in. Be sure to save any and every email you get because if you try to be a good worker and follow directions, it can and will backfire on you. Also if you do your job really well, expect to do other’s people’s jobs too. Management does not hold people accountable and avoids confrontation at all costs. Low ceiling with no distinctive career path for the majority of the positions in shared services. If you’re a non-management employee, expect to stay in that role for a very long time. For those that want to grow within the company, you’re better off moving to sales or warehouse operations.

Pros

People, always the people that are the best part of working at Harbor. Free beer every holiday, fun company events. Relatively young and diverse group of employees. Job itself was pretty repetitive, but high volume so it was always overwhelming.

Cons

Lack of transparency between management and everyone else. Low wages, sub-par benefits. Terrible training plans for new hires (or lack of really). The company went through it's handful of acquisitions last year, so workload doubled without hiring more employees. They would try to hiring bunch of temps but eventually they all quit too. Constantly overworked and always heavily encouraged to work overtime. They look down on you if you don't work more than the standard 40hrs.

Pros

This was a good company to work for. Fun work environment if you like beer and they are interested in continuous improvement.

Cons

There are tons of meetings and management cannot is constantly going back and forth with their decision making. If you are not in sales or warehouse operations movement is some what limited.
