Pros

Reasonable pay but you work for it

Cons

12 hour shifts. No time to sit with residents or engage in an activity, too busy hoovering dusting cleaning putting washing on or away, or serving 3 course meals then cleaning reloading dishwasher 3 times a day and unloading and starting all over again table laying (silver service) serving this is not care this is hotel cleaning maintenance. On your feet for the full shift 30 mins for lunch 2, 15 min breaks. Barely time to take these can’t eat with residents like in many locations I have previously worked. So rushed food on break. Staff are tired. Added shifts without asking and asked why can’t you work it when you challenge it even when less than 24 hours notice to said shift, Picture needed on arrival and when leaving to clarify you were in the building as said time as well as signing in and out. Which goes to manager for proof, work /life balance non existent. No sick pay yet your wear yourself out in this job.

Pros

Very few. Basic office exposure and experience in the care sector.

Cons

This organisation presents itself as far more professional and established than it actually is. Head office operations are poorly managed, lacking structure, transparency, and basic respect for employees. The culture is cliquey and immature, with clear favoritism and inconsistent rules across teams. Expectations regularly exceed job responsibilities, yet staff are undervalued, underpaid and treated as disposable. Communication from leadership is unclear and misleading, creating an environment of insecurity and stress. Decisions are made informally and quietly, with little regard for the impact on staff wellbeing. Employee turnover is extremely high, particularly within head office roles, which speaks volumes. If you are looking for a professional, ethical, or supportive workplace, this is not it.
