Pros

HOVER management are the only ones posting positive reviews. the last 3 reviews in a 2 day period this month were 5 stars and read like they were written by the same representative from management to counter dwindling morale and all the honest negative reviews from the last few quarters. These 3 fake reviews all harp on "high performance" and co "values" from self-interested management. management also flagged 2 negative reviews and got them removed even though they were helpful to many people. stop manipulating Glassdoor to inflate HOVER's ratings. It's pathetic and the negative reviews will keep on coming bc this is the worst co anyone's ever heard of.

Cons

Management and HR shamelessly lie through their bleached teeth. they post job openings with no intent to hire. Agreed with previous reviews that management makes stupid decisions led by amoral short sighted thinking, or lack of thinking, with no business or ethical sense. They retain dumb low performers who are useless or hurt the company while they kill good talent. They are cheap AF and treat employees like costs and paying them as doing them a favor like they should feel lucky to have a job when so many others have been laid off. Agreed with previous reviews, no bonuses and lies about promotion. no 401k match but that is the least of your problems bc no one retires here. They think they are woke but folks running the company don't even try to hide the fact that they disdain women or minorities and DEI is just a badly executed marketing term. Leadership is a revolving door and they obviously hate each other and their teams too.

Pros

Cool tech if you’re interested in the retail home improvement, particularly the roofing and siding industry. If you’re from the roofing/siding industry this is a great way to join a tech company. If you’re from the tech industry, this will not be a brand/experience builder unless you’re coming from a lesser known/reputable company.

Cons

Hover seems like a great place to work at first. Once you peel back the onion, you realize there is a really tight group of OGs in a boys club who make almost all the decisions with seemingly endless opportunities to fail. The rest of the company is held to a more ruthless standard. Assume you’re not in the club if this isn’t obvious to you right now and you likely won’t break into this club as a new hire. To summarize in the company’s own values: Think: about how to protect yourself and never cross someone in the boys club Do: not ever speak up to hard with ideas that contradict your leader or someone who has more clout that you Serve: your leader and the business relentlessly. Avoid taking family leave for any reason. This company says it values leave but it really doesn’t in practice, especially family leave.

Difficult work place

Pros

Before the product team turned upside down and design and research team mostly left the company we had a lot of diversity. There were smart experienced people talking about customer experience. Our meetings showed a lot of diversity in the people on the teams. That's the work place I like to work in with a lot of different types of people.

Cons

The design team is down to only3 or 4 people, who I rarely see, and the research team is gone, and the product managers who cared about customers are gone. I don't know why anyone stays here. I learned so much from the research director and especially liked how she worked with engineering and helped everyone. I liked working with and hearing from the design managers and head of design and designers and felt demoralized when they all left. I loved working with the product managers and engineers who showed interest in customer experience. I felt horrible when I heard and read about what has been said to women and how women have been treated. This is now company of people who are very similar. Kurt Cobain said it well "they laugh at me because I'm different. I laugh at them because they're all the same."
