Excellent career opportunities including qualifications that can be taken into civilian life, good travel and excellent sporting opportunities. I would definitely recommend joining the Royal Engineers as the pay scales are excellent

Cons

The only downside to being in the HM Forces is if you don't like working away from home a lot or travel. This job is definitely not for you if this is the case

Great leadership and management opportunities across a broad spectrum of tasks, people and global locations.

Cons

Large organisation which has multiple layers of bureaucracy. Whilst promotions are based on merit, they are also based on time served which makes it frustrating as fast tracking to success is not possible.
