Pros

Showed up at 9 left at 5 consistently.

Cons

Toxic management, little recognition of your work product, you’re just given more work as a reward. If you don’t play the little game with the lead managing attorney and be a suck up, they ignore you until you leave. Regularly listened to my branch managing attorney talk behind the backs of employees and other managers at the firm and violate HIPAA in doing so by making fun of why someone’s called out sick, just as one example. The work is a soul grinder, you just garnish people’s wages all day, every day - no matter what - with a few lawsuits or late payment letters thrown in for flavor. You will have to look in the eye the elderly and disabled sobbing to you in court begging for relief and tell them cool story give us the money. Better get use to it quick, because you’ll have to do it 6 or so times a week. They have inconsistent enforcement practices where some consumers are given a million chances and others with real justifications are treated like crops ready for harvest. This place causes real lasting workplace trauma and enforces bad habit after bad habit. A quote from my manager “you need to find the balance between a complete attorney review and speed”. My mistake - it’s only a sworn affidavit that will be filed with the court I’m reviewing and my professional license and reputation on the line. You will be treated as a mechanism for producing shareholder value with a JD and nothing more. You can think I exaggerate but give it 6 months and you’ll kick yourself for not listening to that anonymous Glassdoor review. I sure did.

Pros

Great People, I have enjoyed working with all of the team members and coworkers I have had. Flexibility was a great benefit when they allowed remote work; they were great about being accommodating (unfortunately, this ended), but it was a massive positive. They were also very flexible when I went back to school for my Master's Degree. PTO is not too bad if you don't need to use it regularly Absolutely a job where when you clock out, you can forget about it until you clock in again.

Cons

Low pay they are willing to hire and do some amount of training (I know because I trained every member of my team including many of the managers who have led the team) so you don't have to have experience but even once you do getting paid more is hard even with a manager supporting my pay raise requests I was told I was at the upper range of the pay scale. Understaffed. It is a constant problem that teams are often understaffed, and hiring new personnel takes time (low pay is not helping in this regard), which means more work for the team—AKA more burnout, creating a vicious cycle. The volume. This is a high-volume firm, and metrics are what count here. In many ways, this is beneficial, but it has issues, namely that you will be given more work than you can manage within a 40-hour workweek. For a while, I needed to work 50-60 hours a week to make progress on the backlog of work. Taking PTO often means falling further behind, which makes using the benefit even harder. Limited advancement opportunities because teams are not fully staffed, and there is no pressure to expand management to create opportunities for advancement from within. The firm reports record profits (according to the CEO, its best performance yet), but there is no mention of pay increases or bonuses for achieving this success. The software is unreliable and prone to crashes or errors, which can make your job more difficult.
