- poor leadership: people “in charge” aren’t very knowledgeable, no strategic thinking involved in decision making. They mostly just micromanage and pretend to know what’s going on. - bad firm culture: from lack of transparency to lack of respect for “staff” employees. The only thing that matters is making the partners happy. The answer is always “yes” to the partners, regardless of the request. - salary: for the same role, some people are paid well, others are not. There’s no transparency and some candidates are lied to during the interview process about the range for the position. - advancement: horrible system for performance evaluations, deserving employees often overlooked for promotions. Less deserving employees are advanced to leadership roles (even with complaints made against them to HR). - toxic work environment: law firms can be tough, but this one is especially brutal. During your interview they will talk up the firm as if it’s this great place, but the wind will quickly leave your sails as you realize how toxic of a company it is.

-With the pandemic, a significant number of administrative staff was (silently) laid off and no raises/promotions were issued, yet the company boasts that they far exceeded revenue goals this year (wonder why...). Morale is low. People are overworked and highly stressed. -The management in my particular department is notably unprofessional. I have truly never witnessed such disrespectful behavior in a workplace before. Possible nepotism. Extremely poor project planning. -The health insurance is not great for staff who don't make six figures and can only afford the HDHP.
