Pros

Impactful Renewable Energy Work: The company is deeply invested in renewable energy projects, which is one of its most commendable attributes. Their projects do help make a real difference in the world of clean energy. Smart colleagues, a lot of kind people. Innovative Projects: At least in the past, the company focused on innovation and forward-thinking. They were always proud of their strategy of finding good sites, but after working in various renewable energy companies, it is nothing unique.

Cons

1) Toxic Company Culture: The work culture can be described as elitist. There is an unspoken, exclusive hierarchy where those from specific social circles (for example, white men from affluent areas like Edina) seem to be more easily favored. 2) Layoffs: For a relatively small company, 2024 layoffs were handled in a cold-hearted manner. There seemed to be a pattern disproportionately affecting employees from certain generations and those with diverse backgrounds. This created an atmosphere of fear and uncertainty, undermining employee morale. 3) Aggressive Work Style: The company’s work style has been described as intensely aggressive. 4) Surveillance and Lack of Trust: A troubling aspect of the company is its lack of trust. Casual conversations were secretly recorded or monitored behind employees’ backs.

Pros

Opportunities abound. People are wonderful. Benefits are the best I've had. Generous bonus structure.

Cons

Tribal knowledge leads to lack of process. Slow to change in a fast changing environment. Toxic C suite that plays clear favorites and hires friends and family.

Pros

Supports remote work structure in most departments. There are great people who are trying their hardest to make this company better. I hope sooner than later upper management sees and hears them because they deserve to be recognized and heard.

Cons

Your voice and struggles are dismissed and ignored daily. The development department is allowed to run over any and every department to get what they want at anyone’s expense and this is the acceptable practice of the company, while the rest of the departments are not allowed to say ‘no’ and told to do what development asks no matter the request. Upper management reminds the company that NGR is a development company and the other departments are in place due to development team. Truth- the developers and land agents lack education and knowledge. They are allowed to be in the field as the face of the company. It is painfully evident the lack of knowledge they have in understanding the risk of payments that they negotiate or the knowledge of reading the legal description on the agreements being signed. The amount of land signed by this company on incorrect land due to their ignorance should be lesson learned. In reviewing agreements and payments on the operating projects, I was astonished at what was signed and put in place for the operation side. I thankfully had the opportunity to learn the process on how the development team went about obtaining the agreements through the acquisition phase. This made me wonder why NGRs Real Estate team would want to show up for work based on the abuse they take each and everyday from the development. It was insulting, disrespectful and down right mean how they were/are treated. I could not believe this behavior was an acceptable practice and ignored by upper management. Hindsight, I am embarrassed that I allowed myself to work for a company that allowed this and I am disappointed in myself for not pushing harder to fight for the other departments.
