A startup with Identity Crisis (A Wanna be Palantir)

Pros

Hypergrowth startup tag. Multiple raising of funds assures long-term runway. You can brag to your friends and family that you work at a robotics startup.

Cons

This is a wannabe startup. Following closely the footsteps of Palantir. They even hired 3 ex-director-level, incompetent bosses from Palantir. Now everything the company talks about is how to become a Palantir. The moral of the story is, why would you work for a fake Palantir-like org when you can apply and join Palantir? The leadership is somehow bringing in all the Palantir secret sauces and trying to fit them inside the org. Engineering & Product had the highest turnover (go to linked in and search for engineers & PM who left Gecko in 2021). Engineering bosses are highly political with zero transparency. HR seemed to have good intentions but was always intimidated by the young leadership (seriously in their late 20s). Operations have no life. Thanksgiving? Christmas? Even those are a myth in the ops team. Oh did I mention marketing? They were management's favorite pet. But had a clean swipe in late 2021.

Corporate Cult

Pros

- Decent pay & benefits - Old school employees were great

Cons

Entire C-Suite was swept and replaced with Palantir people. They are very dishonest and toxic. Complaints to HR are swept under the rug despite blatant sexism, racism, and abuse of power by leadership. At least one C-level executive should be in jail for their actions. Palantir is your typical boys club mixed with incredibly strong indoctrination to their corporate cult. Either you’re with them or against them. Several employees got fired for speaking up to the wrongdoing including illegal activities being perpetrated by C level executives. Aside from this, the product is mediocre at best. The company has no real future except as an investor scam hyper up as a clone of palantir. Stay far away.

Don’t listen or act for employees

Pros

-Great opportunity to wear many hats and learn a lot quickly -easy to come in and make a difference quickly -a lot of the problems they face are classic startup problems, which makes for a valuable and transferable experience

Cons

-they don’t hold all employees accountable to values or policies. This leads to destructive behavior like bullying and harassment being tolerated, if not protected. -“Good Old Boys club” and “boys will be boys” are phrases said by members of the leadership team as excuses for inappropriate, discriminatory behavior toward women. -they’re growing fast and don’t seem to be prioritizing people and culture. Many in leadership are given so much to do that they find themselves unable to do their job…because they’re doing their job.
