Pros

I got paid on time. Most of the clients were actually decent people. Some of the employees were decent, on the rare occasions you actually encountered them. The extremely high turnover rate makes getting a low rung job relatively easy.

Cons

Standing in one place for 10 or more hours doing absolutely nothing at one site. Sitting at another for 12 or more hours, again doing nothing of value. Picking up dead animals, animal droppings, disposing of barrels and barrels of trash by hand, spending hours watering plants, delivering mail at a third site for 16 hours or so ... you know, stuff a security guard should be doing. Getting cast off, used uniform shirts and pants that don't even match the rest of the higher paid, armed employees uniforms. That made me feel like a real integral part of the team. Being denied a name tag because ... I'm a faceless drone and no one cares what my name is, I guess. Dispatch not knowing anyone's shifts so when you call in a report they have no clue who you are or what you're talking about. God help you if you get in trouble and need backup. Armed patrol officers who completely ignore the unarmed staff while responding to calls or checking in with clients at the same location. Being hired for full time (40 hrs) a week, with benefits promised after the third month and then getting cut back to 30 or less just before the third month to avoid having to pay benefits. Zero actual security training, only site-by-site idiosyncrasy instructions. No opportunity for advancement, since the higher ranks don't leave, only the new people do. I could go on.

Pros

Supposedly steady work.. but it isn't

Cons

Awful company to work for. Horrible management practices. Little to no training. Supervisors are hard to reach and very rude. Schedules constantly change, hard to have a work life balance when you're expected to work 16 hr days at the drop of a hat. Pay is horrible barely over minimum wage. And the group of guys dont do anything but complain and talk behind everyone's back. Taking hours away from regular scheduled employees and then expecting them to work whatever schedule they throw at you. Horrible for people who have families.

Pros

The guys you work with are great. Almost all prior military or cops.

Cons

You receive no training on OC or handgun but carry them. You shoot 39 out of 50 rounds in a target and never shoot it again. Cannot load a round in the chamber. You are armed but are not issued a bullet proof vest. Handcuffs are considered a liability so you are not issued them. Uniforms are old, dirty hand me downs. The patrol division is the companys baby. If you dont work in patrol you dont matter. This company will never have your back in any situation. You are basically handcuffed by the company. They do not support you, train you or give you good gear. If anything costs money.. You wont get it. And for $12.00 starting pay as armed security?? $12.00 to carry an unloaded gun, no training, no handcuffs, no bullet proof vest and no support because you aint patrol.. Find a better job.
