Pros

finish early on friday afternoon

Cons

senior management/ directors belittle degrade think its ok to make some feel under pressure Basic training and if your still stuck after your training you were left to figure it out yourself meetings with colleagues turned into a shouting match between staff members unrealistic expectations if you have certain skills in something will put you in a completely job role that wont use your skills have lack of professional standards lack of professionalism and respect when discussing competitors lack of team cohesion and made to feel like your on your own all time staff members are close minded that their way is the best when there are other options

Hi there, thanks so much for taking the time to leave such a thorough review. I have to admit that I'm confused by it though! As you've mentioned that you're a former employee it must have been quite some time ago as the Friday afternoon early finish isn't something that we've had for at least 4 years as we have much greater flexibility in working nowadays (we've been remote-first for 4 years) so it's not relevant anymore. Similarly, saying that we only provide basic training and that you'll be put in a role that is not in line with your skills isn't possible at Firefish: everyone has a 12-week induction with specialised training; and Career Journeys for every Fish, which include structured support to progress in the way they want to rather than the business dictating. We also have in-house coaches, weekly training sessions, monthly learning sessions and wiki guides for pretty much anything you can think of! With regards to staff being closed minded and feeling like you're on your own, I'm really sorry to hear you felt this way. We have Focus Groups to make it easier for each member of the team to share and implement their ideas - no matter their level - and we have a real focus on collaborate and cross-functional working (and socialising!) so again, I'm guessing that you worked here before we changed our working practices 4 years ago. I'm alarmed to hear that you felt that there was a lack of professionalism and respect: this is absolutely against our values, and has been for the entire 10 years that I've worked here. We have an extremely low turnover of staff, with over 50% of our product team having worked here for over 5 years, but we have grown significantly - we've more than doubled in size in the last 4 years, and we have never had this feedback from anyone. I'd appreciate the opportunity to speak with you about your feedback, as it's really important that our Fish are happy in their roles so I'd value the opportunity to address (or at least apologise!) for how you felt during your time here. Please drop me a line at vmoir@firefishsoftware.com to arrange a time to talk that works best for you. Many thanks, Vicki Moir Head of Talent

Avoid unless you like burnout

Pros

- work from anywhere policy - excellent workplace healthcare plan - some great colleagues - earlier finish on fridays - mostly good at taking suggestions for process improvement

Cons

- insane workload leads to burnout - some teams very understaffed - process changes every week leads to burnout - frequent team lead changes and uncertainty - management do not know how to manage people or teams - promises made about career advancement are not kept - required to work multiple jobs for no extra pay - comparatively poor salary - very tense meetings where work and people are openly criticised and borderline bullied - quite a cult-like culture, if you don't 100% buy into it (and all the fish puns) you can feel very excluded - certain teams are clearly favourites with upper management and others are 'blamed' for things going wrong
