      Great journalists terrible management

      Pros

      Some of the best journalists I've worked with.

      Cons

      Constant changes in senior management, no pay rises, office culture is one of fear and intimidation. Absolutely no leadership or direction. The company is stuck in the 1980s with directors family members promoted to absurd roles above their capabilities.

      Great journalism and a lot of people who care about doing good work.

      Cons

      Family members in positions they're incapable of doing who don't really understand publishing or care about their employees. Website has not changed in years. Managers struggling to make progress from having their hands tied.

      9-5 hours, when you sign off, there is no work after hours.

      Cons

      Low pay, low-to-no raises (2%), very biased in reporting news, favoring highest paid subscribers, no professional development opportunities, no opportunity for growth (fill new openings at hire levels with external applicants.) Very much who you know.
