I was laid off after a few months of probation without any clear objective reason. The onboarding was very messy and even though I asked multiple times to give some clarity on my role and the goals, so that I could make sure my performance was up to the expectations, I never received that. After a few months of this, I first received some negative feedback (that I immediately acted on to make sure the situation is fixed) and then I was informed that they decided to terminate my contract and that I have to stop all the work on the same day. These kind of things are usually done only with people who commit a fraud at the workplace or something like that but since it obviously wasn't the case for me, it just shows how does the management treat the new joiners. Looking at the situation objectively there was no reason for this (e.g. the performance was good, the team members were satisfied) so apparently here you can get laid off just because you are not liked by someone.
