Pros
The team atmosphere is really good here. Like, really good. I've worked in a number of studios in the Bay Area, and this is definitely the most single-minded, dedicated team I've worked with. People pull long hours, which is often a sign of bad company culture, but here, people seem to know what it means to be close to such a major launch and genuinely want to contribute and make something great. Engineering may be different wrt overtime, but I've never heard any suggestion that overtime is expected from people in any other department. It just happens. The mobile studio cynicism - product and marketing leading the creative team, the sort of thing prevalent in zynga, kabam et al - is absent. This is a design-led studio and while it's important we hit the mark with monetization and marketing, all decisions are based on what creates the best experience and how fun the game is.
Cons
Slow hiring process. Apparently this is being worked on. Annual leave isn't great, but it seems like that may be addressed post launch.
