-Small company micro-managed by owner that trickles down to management.
-There is no HR, employees often go unheard and underrepresented into situations as to not challenge power dynamic of owner/leadership.
-Refusal to adapt to modern company benefits that keep employees happy and save costs for company (WFH, Decent time off, Better insurance)
-Account executives are glorified SDR's with high commission rates but paid a base rate of around $10 hourly. (no risk to employer and difficult if looking to support family)
-Sales is touted as most important division in company and propped up as evidence of how well the company pays despite many other departments being paid below industry standard.
-Advice from management can seem uninformed or petty at times as there is a religious undertone that often seeps into employee approval/disapproval
-Nepotism, employees with last names from prominent families or some connection to owners are allowed to underachieve at their position or quickly promoted to positions they may not be qualified for.
-Culture of fear permeates throughout the company, employees are scared to voice their true opinion of management decisions and structures.
-Organizational communication is very poor, no visibility into forecast, product support, industry change, growing opportunities, potential changes that will affect your position/department.
-Customer support is free, meaning that the top clients get about the same level of service as some of the lesser paying clients. This can be very frustrating as priority clients often go under-served and churn due to lack of support and industry leading services.
-Information is silohed, work is often made much more difficult as knowledge isn't shared openly that would help sales team. This often leads to teams being pitted against one another instead or having a friendly environment when everyone is informed on what's going on with the client/opportunity.
-Opportunities to spread the wealth and work as team almost non-exisitant outside of sales. Department managers do not receive commission from those they lead so very little incentive to be invested in their success.
-Department KPI's are all but meaningless, bonuses are deducted at every opportunity for things often outside of one's control.
-Refusal to adapt and improve company culture across the board has led to a recent exodus within the department. Many are moving on for greater opportunities and to companies that value their employees.
