Pros
Small company feel. Awesome Dev Managers. Very few 'edgy' personalities - most of the day to day is with folks that are easy going yet technical. LOVE working in a vertical industry after many years in large company ambiguity. Although the company is part of Turner (which is part of Time Warner), we have our own customers. GREAT BRAND NEW LOCATION (as of Sept 2016) in downtown Seattle. Free parking. Free bus pass. Shares a building with HBO (also a Time Warner entity) which is fun too. Outlook for the company is positive.
Cons
We are beholden to a few big broadcasters so randomization can happen, and priorities can shift overnight. We have a few big launches each year (e.g., the Olympics) which puts pressure on the company a few weeks out of the year - but mostly the software is stable after many years of work so fire drills are few. The operations team in Vegas has more day to day fires than the software platform here in Seattle. Tactical here is daily - strategy is 2-4 months out - which is pretty typical of the broadcast industry.
