some excessive micromanagement on the development side but not too bad

Amazing work experience earned through hard work and self learning. Coworkers are usually nice and they do try to recognize employees with various fun activities and parties through the year. Best feature of the company is the strong acceptance and even encouragement of telecommuting.

Severely understaffed which not only affects workplace morale but also the client experience. Every employee learns different pieces depending on who trains them. And you absolutely cannot function here if you are not able to teach yourself new software or job responsibilities. Pay is lower than the industry average and benefits are well below the industry because of the small size of the company. Also if you are able to schmooze upper management they will create a position to suit you. Worst of all there is no real HR to speak of so plenty of unacceptable behavior goes completely unremarked. This company is run completely by a family and there is no real accepted feedback from the non family employees.
