Pros

This job is excellent for getting some experience in sales (internal and external), customer service, and understanding corporate politics. You will grow a thick skin as you are taunted, bullied and condescended to by upper management while balancing the demands of your clients who will constantly ask, "Why is the product not delivered on time and why am I being charged?" You will learn the value and benefit of being a 'Yes Man'. You will learn that hierarchy sewage flows down. You will understand the disadvantages of being a woman in a hostile workplace. You will get to see first hand that all this and much more actually exists and is practiced regularly. You will be cured of any delusion you may have about the real world, especially if you are coming out of high school or college. And, in time, you will thank them for showing it to you. Trust me, if you are in need of learning new skills and seeking the answers to where you want to take your career, apply for this job. Boomtime will not help you find that answer, but I promise, when it is all over in 6 months, you will be one step closer knowing that THAT is not what you want to do with your life. That, my friends, is information weaved from gold. Oh yeah!. You also get pretty decent health and dental.

Cons

I really have no cons. Boomtime is attempting to create an amazing product and service for local businesses struggling to afford better marketing avenues. As traditional media becomes more expensive, these businesses will struggle. With Boomtime, businesses can see how effective their efforts are and really take some risk in trying new ideas to get a return on their investment. The CEO has a powerful vision and a profound dream. Sadly, unless you are part of the inner circle, you are nothing but a number in the system. And you are replaceable. So feel free to refer back to the 'Pros' section if you like where this is going. Simply put, if you want to go far, you better learn to play the game. Also the employees are terrible at doing their dishes. It's just disgusting.

Pros

Overall, there are many great employees that work hard and are easy to work with. PTO is also pretty good.

Cons

There is very little training. There are audio recordings about basic concepts and company mission which include abstract and theoretical information, and are not helpful to learning the actual daily processes of the job. I requested (but was never given) timelines for training and development. Processes are not documented and require a huge amount of redundant effort. When any work is done, it needs to be updated manually in several different places. This wastes time and causes employees to fall even further behind, as well as causes clients to fall through the cracks. Existing customers are heavily neglected. I would speak to current clients, and many of them didn’t know what services we were providing them, even by the third or fourth meeting. This is partly due to overworked employees, as well as convoluted processes. Management is inhibitive to employee success. Management style shifts between micromanagement to being distant and completely unavailable and unapproachable, depending on the day. Employees are judged by information that was never given or taught, and constantly critiqued and told that they should just know it. Employees are worried that they will be the next to be let go, annoyed by the ambiguous processes, and feel like they are set up to fail. Website development, design, and email content are outsourced overseas. Communication with contractors is difficult and time consuming which creates a bottleneck of overdue work. Outsourcing the work slows down the processes, which are already on a tight timeline, causing milestones to be repeatedly missed for customers.
