I joined to work alongside the renewal division and was moved to an inside sales role. The new role was the vision of a director, a poor decision which cost company money and me my job. Poor marketing, email blasts to the wrong audience, poorly written and riddled with grammatical errors will not increase your market. A person opening an email does not show an interest in your offering, but these are the people the team are expected to target.
Without doubt, the middle tier of management needs to take a long inward look at themselves and ask themselves why the teams have no respect for them. Directors who can insult team members verbally and via email, come into the office swearing loudly, seemingly drunk or otherwise chemically altered, making team members fearful and seemingly favour one team member above others need to look at themselves and their behaviours and work practices. When a Director can decide to ignore team members because they voiced concerns over their erratic behaviours, tantamount to retaliation the senior management team need to be a little more assertive in their responses to them.
A team will not respect their manager when they use controlling tactics instead of consultative and collaborative techniques.
